Traverse City Trail Report – 01/11

Trails in the Traverse City area suffered from the warm up this week. Base is thin with areas of dirt and mud. Waiting for snow to get the groomers out and the trails in shape again…

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Ranch Rudolf - We had a very light rain/mist from approx 4pm to 8pm last night. Lost some snow. Luckily, we had a lot of snow to start with, so there is still a good amount on the ground, especially in the woods with more tree cover. It's currently 16 degrees and expected to remain cold. It's lightly snowing now, nothing significant expected, but at least it will now be cold enough to maintain anything new. Snow that we have it very crunchy/hard packed. Trails are probably categorized poor to fair at best. The biggest problem is there really isn't enough snow for groomers to run..... #traversecity1/12/18 trail update: It's very disheartening to report that the work of some wheeled vehicles have made things much more challenging. Please note the sign stating this is a groomer maintained trail and someone still felt it was ok to drive down it. We had a very light rain/mist from approx 4pm to 8pm last night. Lost some snow. The biggest problem is there really isn't enough snow for groomers to run, but with the ruts from wheeled vehicles they may have to try to smooth them back out, which will dig up dirt in some spots. Hoping this is the only trail that took a hit from a vehicle. Currently groomers are not running, but groomer drivers and GTASC officers are talking right now about the best resolution for the trails. Will update you as to when groomers head out, whether it be today, this weekend, or when... stay safe out there and have fun, but please have a little respect for the sport, the trails, and the hard work all these club members put in to maintaining them ... Ugh...lol

We ran into a minivan going down the trail last weekend and a 3/4 ton plow truck stuck on another trail.

Well that sucks...It seems to be a bigger problem every year...Last week we met the groomer on the trail and had perfect trails for about a mile. Then the next 10 miles the freshly groomed trail was absolutely destroyed by a couple of ATV/UTVs that were sliding back and forth and around every corner No respect... I never saw them (Probably a good thing)... just the destruction they left...It looked like they where purposely trying to destroy what the groomer had just completed. SO SAD!!!

Individuals in every state of the Union that cannot read or possess even an ounce of common sense

Think Traverse will be rideable Sunday?

I'd like to meet the jack wagon that did that 🤬

I love that place!!

Trails are in fair shape after the thaw we had last week. We’ve had a couple of inches of snow and there is snow expected in the forecast. Our tour guide and renters said that overall things weren’t too bad out there today. There are ice in some of the corners and low areas of the trail. They will likely not be grooming much until we get a few good inches of snowfall. If your out on the Boardman this week please be aware that conditions are not ideal and you will find some areas are icy and lack a good snow base. Be careful and enjoy! ... See MoreSee Less

those people if caught should have their vehicles confiscated and crushed.

Looks like someone should hide a few trail cameras out there!

Trail cams are a necessity these days.... This makes me sick... People are completely ignorant!!!!!!

Probably a JEEP! 😂

Heading out tonight to pan and or groom

maybe work with the 4 wheel guys in the summer so they help us when we need a base. easier to get away with 4 wheeling in the winter up here
