28 degrees and cloudy again this morning. Got this report out a little late this morning cause I was waiting for all the guys that ran yesterday to get their report to me. I`ve got a full run down of all our trails, so here we go…….
Groomer Mike C. hit the Pine Stump trail #8 and said its in good shape. There are some thin spots but all in all pretty darn good. Groomer Glenn ran the Point trails #452 & #453 and said pretty much the same thing. He told me the trail is in great shape except for a thin section along the Doe Lake Road ridge. This section is on the north east side. It is pretty canopied over with trees which doesn`t let the snow hit the ground.
Groomer Kevin ran the Falls trail #45 and said the same thing too. All in all this trail is in good shape but there are about a half dozen water holes you have to look out for. You can get around them but you just have to be careful. We have one detour cut around a large water hole about 6 miles west of town so look out for that.
I ran the South trail #8 and have the same thoughts. This trail is in good shape but there are a few thin spots and a couple of water holes you have to watch out for. I skipped the swamp south of town again, more on that in a sec.
For today, we are all gonna take a rest (lol) and do a little maintance on the machines. Tomorrow we are gonna take 2 machines and poke our noses into the south swamp. Once we are done with that we will switch drivers and take 2 machines and go work on the water holes on the Falls trail, then Wednesday go out and get everything groomed up and get ready for the weekend. I see we MIGHT have a little snow coming so that will be a big help!
So……there ya go…..a full run down on our trails and plans. You make the decision whether or not to come UP this weekend.
You`ll get plenty of ridin in but it won`t be perfect (unless we get a foot of snow). Think early season ridin and you`ll have a blast!!!
LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Groomer Chris
NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via TASA Tahquamenon Area Snowmobile Association >> Happy Opening Day everyone. We do have snow in the area. Reports are about 10 inches. The last couple of days temps have been just above freezing but that will help set up a good base. Trails are still under restricted use as we enter mussel loading season. December 15th is when all restrictions in the area are lifted. The gates at the trail head are going to remain closed until we get some more snow. That section of trail goes through some wet land that hasn't yet froze over. The same for the gates on trial 45. If you want to come up and give it a go we would suggest trailering a bit north of town to either the Silvercreek trail head, Pine Stump, or the trail head north of that. Please go slow and watch for hazards on the trail. Ride Safe and Ride Right #newberryHappy Opening Day everyone. We do have snow in the area. Reports are about 10 inches.
