Seney Trail Report – 04/02

Hello Everyone!

The grooming season is officially over, the trails are still in very good shape, you can still ride the marked trails that are on state land which is all of Seney, we are expected some more snow this week so there is still good riding to be had for another week or so if you wish to come up and enjoy our area!
Our club President, Marc Schooley, Vice President Randy Murphy and myself, you’re Treasurer/Secretary/Trail Conditions Reporter/Facebook Pro, etc. would all like to thank all of you riders, business owners/supporters for all of you’re kind words and understanding in this first year of us taking over this awesome snowmobile association! We had some ups and downs this year but I believe with the feedback we received we did an unbelievable job this year, we continued to have some of the best trails in the state and we look forward to many years to come, bringing smiles to all of you’re faces! This year is an exciting year as we will be introducing our summer maintenance program into effect where we will be brushing/grading the trails throughout the summer so there will be flat trails up here in Seney for the ATV’s which will in turn keep the the trails nice and hopefully rut free by the time winter returns later this year!

The 2018 Motorcycle Vet Ride, taking place on June 2nd is our next event, you can reserve you’re spot now so please if you can don’t wait until the last minute to let Diane know if you are attending!

Thanks again! Hope to see all of you soon!

Seney Snowmobile Association

Hello Everyone!

We groomed slash panned Trail 43/8 Friday to the Bear Trap. In some places there is probably 16 inches of snow and other places there was probably 8 to 10 inches. There is one detour up on the grade, the same one as last year. We are still packing in the base. It is still thin. We groomed Petrol Rd. into Melstrand. There is one water hole on Petrol Rd. You have to ride thru it and it’s probably at least 10” deep and 6’ long. On Tuesday we got 10” of snow in some spots, the snow got mixed in places with the sand so we had to cut deep enough into the trail to get the chatter bumps out left from the ATV’s. Friday there was 4-5” of new snow and we panned and packed in where it was set nice from our Tuesday efforts. We had to groom in a few places that needed some structural cutting. We pushed back the snow from the road crossings to set the standard for the season. If maintained it should help with keeping the snowmobilers from dragging the snow back into the roads.
We still need more snow, it was pretty busy here at the station all day Saturday.

There’s a slight warmup this coming up weekend so watch the reports.

I will keep you updated as much as possible on here and if you’re on Facebook follow Seney Snowmobile Association or Mater’s Stop N Go for updates as well! Hope to see you all soon!

For all you people that have left me shitty remarks on here i will have you know that our group of people have been snowmobiling around the Grand Maris area since 1959 . And if you don't think we have spent money in that area you are out of your mind . I would say that we have more than payed our fair share . I would like to see if all of you are still snowmobiling when you are in your 70 plus years .Plus most of you all you do is ride from bar to bar and you think when you go home you put on 200 to 300 miles wow. Our trips are usually between 1,400 and 1,600 miles in a week most of our machines have between 21,000 to 25,000 on them before we get rid of them .Plus I was only commenting on the price difference of gas from Ann Arbor to Seney.

Thanks for update randy, look forward to visiting soon

Wow your gas is really high up there ours is around 2.19 today

Oh yeah , Thank you for the UP date see you soon Randy

Can't wait till I can get up there in January

First, if you have been going to Grand Marais since 1959 you should have known this since 1959 as it has always been higher in GM. Second, I lived in GM until the fall of 1964 and don't recall snowmobiles zooming around GM.
