KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Snowmobile Club – 12/08 Due to the drizzle / rain / warm temperatures throughout the day today, we will not be making any packing / grooming runs tonight. <> <> <> <> Keweenaw Trail Reports on Facebook >>>> <> WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Widespread "system" snow tapers off tonight and transitions to lake effect snow in the W to NW snowbelts Monday. Jim and I had an easy day. We crossed the bridge and rode to Laurium and found a great spot for breakfast….Miner’s Cafe!! A nice 50 mile ride. The trails are holding up pretty well. Easy to see where the bridges used to be crossing the railroad line. Lots of history up here.
Others in our group rode to Rockland and back. They logged over 100 miles. They said that the last 40 miles or so were getting rough. It would be nice to get about another half foot or so of snow.
Tomorrow is moving day. We go to Munising for a few days to check out the trails there. #keweenaw #snowphotos
If you're looking for some food off Trail 3, buzz on in. We still have some of our Half Naked Cheese Curds & our Deep Fried Pickle Chips available, but they might not last through the weekend!

A clipper system comes in Sunday with impacts lasting into Monday. This is SNOW POTENTIAL Sunday AND Monday. Don't come at me 9am Sunday morning and say "where's my snow." lol.
As you can see the effects of this will vary GREATLY depending on where you are in the state.
We go from up to 1" for most areas in the light blue to about 1-3" at best for most of the Lower Peninsula. The west side gets more because of a quick shot of lake effect with gusty winds and cold temperatures. The U.P. is the bread winner here with the center of the low pressure hanging out over Lake Superior for a bout 24hrs. That will cause more lift which we need for snow to develop along with more lake effect due to strong winds and VERY cold air. It'll be a fluffy snow that piles up rather quick.
Winds will be very strong as times with a lot of cold air pouring in by Monday morning. Expect some areas in West Michigan to have wind chills as cold as -5 with the Western U.P. having wind chills as cold as -20. BRR!
