SENEY AREA UPDATE via Seney Snowmobile Association – 02/25
With our 20th Annual Vet Ride coming up next weekend March 2, 2024. We’ve had a lot of questions about what are our plans. This winter is not like a normal winter at all. As of right now the trails out of town are all dirt, and not ridable out of Seney. With the warm temps forecasted this week it’s not looking to get any better. We have to change the plans for the ride. We will be doing breakfast instead of lunch. We will be making breakfast during the morning registration. After our flag raising ceremony we will head over to the red barn and fire up the heaters. We will have corn hole boards set up, decks of cards to play any cards games you choose. We’ll have music playing and just enjoy the day with the Vets. We’ll be having dinner earlier at 4:00 pm instead if 6. If you are wanting to go for a snowmobile ride please call Marc at 231-519-0927 and we will see if we can get some guides to lead you. You’ll have to trailer north of town about 10 mile to ride. It will be mostly 2 tracks and back trails if you ride. If the snow holds up. If you plan on bringing your sleds just leave them in the trailer and the guides will tell you where to meet. It’s a gamble on your part. We are looking forward to seeing everyone next weekend.

WEATHER UPDATE via Meteorologist Brad Sugden >> SNOW TIME! Posted (Jan 11 2pm). A clipper system comes in Sunday with impacts lasting into Monday. This is SNOW POTENTIAL Sunday AND Monday. Don't come at me 9am Sunday morning and say "where's my snow." lol. As you can see the effects of this will vary GREATLY depending on where you are in the state. We go from up to 1" for most areas in the light blue to about 1-3" at best for most of the Lower Peninsula. The west side gets more because of a quick shot of lake effect with gusty winds and cold temperatures. The U.P. is the bread winner here with the center of the low pressure hanging out over Lake Superior for a bout 24hrs. That will cause more lift which we need for snow to develop along with more lake effect due to strong winds and VERY cold air. It'll be a fluffy snow that piles up rather quick. Winds will be very strong as times with a lot of cold air pouring in by Monday morning. Expect some areas in West Michigan to have wind chills as cold as -5 with the Western U.P. having wind chills as cold as -20. BRR! TIMING is posted on my page a post or two down. Please go there and scroll down. #miweather #keweenaw#westernup#marquette#munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea#gaylord#cadillac#benzie#traversecity#petoskeySNOW TIME! Posted (Jan 11 2pm).
