KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Snowmobile Club >> 01/18
Trails worked out decent after the warm day yesterday (hit over 40°). Expect high traffic today, we’re happy to see everyone up and supporting all the business that support our club! Please be careful out there. Ride right, ride sober and ride to the lowest ability of your group.
A plea here as well – PLEASE every rider stop at every stop sign. I cannot tell to the amount of times in the past week alone we see the “wave the next guy though,” incomplete stops or not giving cars enough time. The car, truck, semi will always win. Be safe, we want everyone to return!

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Quieter weather settles in across the U.P. today as lingering snow showers tapering off this morning. A weak clipper system will bring another round of light snow tonight, but only expect another inch or so of accumulation in most locations. The sleds are out there having an absolute blast on the trails. It looks like everyone was out last night working on our trails. Reports are the trails were in pretty bad shape but seemed to groom well despite the snow being like sugar. The fresh snow will help make it more workable tonight.

Good thing I'm not a meteorologist because I guessed this one pretty bad. I had said yesterday that I didn't think we'd get but about an inch of snow. Well we're at 3 inches as of 4pm today and they claim it's going to continue till tomorrow morning.

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Widespread snow will begin to spread west to east this morning while a heavier snowband looks to set up in the central UP this afternoon. Uncertainty still remains where this snowband will park, however, heavy snowfall rates will likely create difficult travel along US-41 from Delta to Marquette/Alger counties. Tonight, widespread snow transitions to lake effect snow for the north wind snowbelts.
