TROUT LAKE - EASTERN U.P. UPDATE via The Rail House-Trout Lake MI >> Welp... we had to give it a shot but only made it a few miles before we turned around and headed back in. The wind makes it hard to tell exactly how much snow we have gotten in the last 24hrs but its pretty significant. Roads are NOT passable. Please don't try to go out until the county trucks are able to do a pass or 2. NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via Halfway Lake Cottages, LLC >> I am absolutely for the snow but these winds are a bit scary and kept us up most of the night! Thanking the stars we have the generator! WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> A major winter storm will continue to impact northern Michigan, bringing dangerous travel conditions to much of the area. Heavy snow and strong winds gusting to 45-55+ mph are expected to create localized blizzard conditions across open areas at times from mid-morning into early afternoon. Drifting snow may make travel especially difficult on secondary roadways. Power outages will also be possible, especially across areas that experienced icing on Sunday.
