Lake Gogebic Trail Report – 12/19

LAKE GOGEBIC AREA UPDATE via Gogebic Area Grooming – 12/19

Happy Thursday.. Bergland crew checking in with their reports from this evenings grooms. Everything in our system will have been groomed by the time everyone wakes up Friday morning.

8w to Wakefield still has water spots but you are able to get around them. (Use caution). 1s has a section of water spots that are shallow and more of a nuisance than anything, but again use caution. 102 is in good shape. 1n is in good shape. 13n is in good shape. 13s is getting attention as I write this and will have a more detailed report tomorrow. 8e is thin but getting groomed tonight as well.

Currently sitting at 16° with light snow. We are still considering it early season conditions.. Ride with caution, watch out for each other and have fun. ❄️❄️❄️

WATERSMEET - WESTERN U.P. UPDATE via U.P. Thunder Riders Snowmobile Club >> UPDATED 12/30/25- Groomers were finally able to get out today and groom our entire system and clear all big obstacles that were on or blocking the trails. Both groomers were out 9 to 10 hours to get through everything but still expect some mirror wackers as it will take a while to get all them. We got anywhere from probably 12 to 20 inches of snow so it is going to take a few days before the trails are really going to set up. We will be on a more consistent grooming schedule moving forward as long as weather cooperates and groomer drivers are available. Big thanks to some of the snowmobilers that stopped and help us clear some of the big trees and if you see something on the trails please try to pick it up to help our drivers out. EASTERN U.P. UPDATE via Mackinac County Snowmobile Association >> Tuesday December 30
We really got the snow yeaterday. Cut river area seemed to be the winner with claims to 36 inches. St ignace received a foot or more and Trout lake closer to 2ft. With all that snow comes the fun stuff. We did pan what we could last night but had to turn around and could not make it into St ignace do to down trees. We will need a few days to get this storm cleaned up. It is passable to St Ignace by sled but ungroomed until clean up is done. So much snow came at once it will take several passes to get a good hard base again so please be patient with us for a few days while we get things in order. Use extreme caution while riding in our area as there still is branches in the trail. We will update as soon as conditions change. Thank you #soo #straitsarea #newberry #snowphotos

TROUT LAKE AREA UPDATE via The Rail House-Trout Lake MI >> Attempt #2... we made the entire loop around the lake. Use caution as there is a downed tree on the backside of the lake. We did not have a chainsaw and were unable to move it on our own. Visibility is better and there are a lot of sleds out. The snow is DEEP. If I had to guess I would say we got 20"+ of snow. Be safe. Be prepared and do not ride alone.
Buckhorn, Trout Lake is open and so is the gas station
