Marie Snowmobile Association >> 12/30 12/30/25 11 AM I just spoke with Bruce who will be hitting the 494 loop south of Kinross, and he’s going to also head north to 12 mile on 49 if he’s able to safely. I’m still working on getting someone for 49 from the Soo to 12 mile. The Pisten Bully is still at the Soo barn, so 8 west of Brimley, the Raco powerline, 480 to the Spile Dam gate, and the 889 loop have not been touched. I know that there are monster drifts out that way. Possibly downed trees too. Even very experienced riders are getting stuck across the UP after this strom. PLEASE be very careful! Just a couple weeks ago it was lake effect snow every single day. Today, a light band of 1-3" near Munising is all we will need to write home about. We even tossed in some humor for those not in a designated snowfall zone. A couple slick spots will pop up along M-28 near Munising, and perhaps around Petoskey if a longer lake effect band happens to form, but this is more unlikely than likely. SAULT STE. Attention local riders. While we are not asking you to go out, if you are out riding today, please report what you are seeing and any hazards so we can warn others. As we get to all routes, we will also update. As a reminder, the only trails that have been groomed since the storm hit are trail 8 from the Soo to Brimley, and the city trails (49 to Alberta lane and the Don Dee, the I500/ Holiday Inn trail, 449 to Kewadin, and the high school trail).

Happy Valentines Day and happy trail stop day!
Turbo and Diane went out very early this morning on their run on parts of 480, 8, and the 889 loop.
Here’s their report-
“Good morning everyone. Love is in the air! What a great way to spend our Valentines Day. I can't think of a more lovely way to treat Mrs. Turbo than to grab the Pisten Bully and groom some trails. All the while jamming out to some good old romantic music. Now for the good stuff. We left around 5:30am, to do the Mission Hill run(trail 889) we had to wait for the temperature to cool down. It got slightly above freezing last night. Passed our first sleds about 7:20. Four young men were up early hitting the trails. Not much has changed on the trails. Still excellent. Perfect riding conditions. Don't forget, it's our annual trail stop at the intersection of 8 and 889 in Raco. Please stop out and support us. Join the Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association if you're not already a member. We also have a donation box. Every little bit helps. Also, make sure you get a cup of our world famous hot cocoa. Make sure you tell them Turbo sent you. We are planning on going home and taking a nap. Have fun. Stay safe. Stay sober.”
