Paradise Area Trail Report – 12/30
PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders www.paradiseareanightriders.org >> 12/30 12/30/25 14 degrees this morning and partly cloudy. About all I can say about the last couple days is HOLY WAH…did we ever get hammered with snow and wind!!!! Its impossible to say how much snow cause of all the wind but I`ll just say plenty! Everyone spent all day yesterday clearing snow and today we are hittin the trails wide open. Here`s what we have planned for the next couple days……. All 3 machines will be out today. We are sending 2 of them on the Point Trails #452 & #453. One will have a drag and the other will be helping clear trees down, we have reports of several down. The other machine will make its way down the Pine Stump trail #8. I can only imagine the drifting in "Siberia". Tomorrow we are sending 2 machines, one with a drag the other clearing trees, south on trail #8. We will be skipping the swamp for now and just starting at the river mouth. Not sure right now on the other machine duties. If all goes well we will start working on the Falls trail #45 and then go into the swamp south of town. It looks like the weather is gonna finally cooperate and its supposed to stay cold and snowy for at least a week or more. We are supposed to get another 6" plus tonight. I tend to not believe the forecast any more than a week out….LOL. Sooooooo……with all the snow and cold we are gonna run full blast! It may take a day or two to get everything in shape but we`ll try our best!!! If we can get the swamps filled in we`ll be golden….wish us luck. Just a couple weeks ago it was lake effect snow every single day. Today, a light band of 1-3" near Munising is all we will need to write home about. We even tossed in some humor for those not in a designated snowfall zone. A couple slick spots will pop up along M-28 near Munising, and perhaps around Petoskey if a longer lake effect band happens to form, but this is more unlikely than likely. Happy Valentines Day everyone! 15 degrees this morning and a freezing fog out der. Everything is all white.....kinda pretty. Now that the weather has changed, temps up and down, I will try to put out a report everyday. I hit 42 here at my place yesterday. Here`s what went on yesterday.....
Groomer Patrick hit the Point trails #452 & #453 and called them good. He said the snow got pretty soft on him but all is good.
Groomer Glenn ran the Falls trail #45 and called that good too. Didn`t break thru any ice yet.
Groomer Dave ran trail #8 south and said the same. Our infamous swamp is still solid!
Groomer Keith ran the Pine Stump trails #8 & #9 and called that good.
All trails will get run today too.
So......there ya have it. a complete run down of our system.

It was 9 degrees this morning when I got up at 0630, it is now 22 at 0800 and cloudy....weird weather! It is supposed to get up into the low 30`s today and drop into the low teens at night. "They" are watching for a "big storm" coming in for early next week but temps into the 30`s....weird weather. Nuff on that....lets get to the trails....
All trails were run yesterday and they are all in great shape. We will run almost around the clock all weekend to keep them that way for you. If the warmer days start to break up the ice in the low lands I`ll be sure to let ya`ll know, but for now we are in GREAT SHAPE!!!! Bout all I got to report.

4 degrees this morning under a bright blue sky. I picked up about an inch of fluff on my deck last night. I`m sure ya`ll are seeing the weather forecast for the next couple weeks. It looks like the temps are gonna warm up into the 30`s during the day. We have at least 3' of snow on the ground in da woods but the warm temps are not gonna help our cause much. We should be fine for a while but the roads we use for connecting trails will start to thaw and turn muddy. I am already getting questions about it being worth the drive coming UP! For right now I am saying YES, plenty of snow in da woods and our trail system is in GREAT shape. I do predict our wet areas will start to open up and I`ll keep ya`ll informed on how that progresses. Our high ground trails....ie....mainly the Pine Stump trail #8 & #9 will hold up for a while. So......get yer bunnies UP here and get it while it lasts!!! All trails are good to go right now!!!!!!!

We have a ton of snow on the ground. Trails are excellent
This weekend will be Busy for sure.
Some warm temps coming in the 30s it looks like. Our snow won’t melt in a few days so don’t be thinking that
If town gets melted down and hard to navigate we have all kinds of parking out back. Trailer up for the day and go ride!! No overnight parking or long term parking
