Baldwin Area Trail Report – 12/06

BALDWIN AREA UPDATE via Trailriders Snowmobile Club – 12/06

Please watch out for the groomers today. We are headed south on trail 3 and 320 from Baldwin to woodland park area now til 10-11 tonight when we arrive back at groomer barn in Baldwin. Remember yield to the groomers when approaching from either front or back we will see you and find a safe place for you to pass.

Friday 12/6 update. I’ll start with the good news, all trails currently open in our system were groomed last night/early this morning (🚨reminder: trail 19 from Whiskey Creek to Hart remains closed until til January 1st please keep out or you are trespassing and will be ticketed!). Your best bet is to ride the North and rail sections to Reed City along with our middle sections from Baldwin to the South T🤪to just beyond the Woodland Park area. We also groomed the South section from Newaygo Sports Park to the 8 mile area late last night. The southern most part was thin with snow and turned out pretty snirty it’s rideable but I’d avoid that area if possible. From the M-20 parking area west of White Cloud to the north, there are good sections and bad. The hilliest areas have extreme ruts, water holes, and 2 to 3 foot deep bumps in places. Take it extremely cautiously through these areas as some bumps I went airborn and spilled my coffee at 5mph🚨I can only imagine what it would feel like on a sled! This was the first groom of this section for the season so we attempted to cut some bumps and atv/truck ruts resulting in some dirt mixed in. Please do us a favor and if you see hazards like rocks, large limbs and such in the trails please stop to throw them off the trail if you can do so safely. Please notify us here if you come across any hazards such as large downed trees or other debris and we will do our best to get them cleared out. As always, ride right and please ride sober. Also watch for groomers as there will be some out during the day today trying to get one last groom in to set things on before the big warm up starting Saturday. – TRSC grooming team.

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

BALDWIN AREA UPDATE via Trailriders Snowmobile Club >> 12/28 Update: Club president Dan and Secretary Brian, took the 6195R and 2 saws to clear downed trees and brush today. They covered trails 3, 320, and 324 frim Baldwin South to 8 mile near Woodland Park. There were quite a few leaners and decent size trees across the trail we were able to clean up. There is still a good base on most sections that will make a good hard ice base when it cools down and we get some snow. There were quite a few ruts from trucks and atvs that will need filling when we get some snow. If forecasters are right, we may be out grooming tomorrow night! Keep up the snow dances!
Reminder, we will be opening, brushing and signing trail 19 from trail 320 west towards Hart January 1st. We are looking for more help to open gates and clear trees ahead of the grooming tractor that will be coming right behind. With the snow coming, we will likely be using snowmobiles and pulling a sled with sign posts, saws, augers and gear. Please reach out if you are available to help. #baldwinarea #snowphotos

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via Midwest Weather >> ~(Updated) Snowfall Forecast Sunrise Sunday-Sunrise Tuesday~
A major winter storm is expected to bring significant snowfall to portions of the region. Most of the accumulating snow will be along and north of I-80. No matter how much snow will fall, there will be strong northwest winds that will create blowing and drifting snow. Travel north of I-80 will be near impossible at times. Some road closures are possible along and north of I-90 given greater accumulation and more persistent blizzard-like conditions. Heaviest snowfall totals through sunrise Tuesday (there will be more after) will be along Lake Superior. Snowfall rates could exceed 2" an hour at times due to lake enhancement. Expect over a foot in most areas along the lakeshore before dropping as you get closer to the WI border. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskey~OUTDATED~
