Friday 12/6 update. I’ll start with the good news, all trails currently open in our system were groomed last night/early this morning (🚨reminder: trail 19 from Whiskey Creek to Hart remains closed until til January 1st please keep out or you are trespassing and will be ticketed!). Your best bet is to ride the North and rail sections to Reed City along with our middle sections from Baldwin to the South T🤪to just beyond the Woodland Park area. We also groomed the South section from Newaygo Sports Park to the 8 mile area late last night. The southern most part was thin with snow and turned out pretty snirty it’s rideable but I’d avoid that area if possible. From the M-20 parking area west of White Cloud to the north, there are good sections and bad. The hilliest areas have extreme ruts, water holes, and 2 to 3 foot deep bumps in places. Take it extremely cautiously through these areas as some bumps I went airborn and spilled my coffee at 5mph🚨I can only imagine what it would feel like on a sled! This was the first groom of this section for the season so we attempted to cut some bumps and atv/truck ruts resulting in some dirt mixed in. Please do us a favor and if you see hazards like rocks, large limbs and such in the trails please stop to throw them off the trail if you can do so safely. Please notify us here if you come across any hazards such as large downed trees or other debris and we will do our best to get them cleared out. As always, ride right and please ride sober. Also watch for groomers as there will be some out during the day today trying to get one last groom in to set things on before the big warm up starting Saturday. – TRSC grooming team.
BALDWIN AREA UPDATE via Trailriders Snowmobile Club >> 1/24 Newaygo Trail update: Special thanks to Mike Keith. Everything was froze up, he couldn't get the saw out of the back of the groomer. All he had was a hatchet that he carries to keep the ice off the steps. So he can get in and out of the tractor. He spent over 2 hours with a hatchet, chopping up that debris to get it out of the trail. Hats off to Mike one of our great volunteers and dedicated board members. He went over and above, last night in terrible conditions. When he finished, it was −21°. #baldwinarea#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less
BALDWIN AREA UPDATE via Trailriders Snowmobile Club >> 1/23 PM Update: The truck stuck on trail has been removed. Please use caution as there are likely ruts and damage In the area from removal. 1/23 Update: The middle trails (3, 320, and 324) from Baldwin south to woodland park area, were groomed yesterday. 🚨 There is an abandoned truck stuck in the middle of trail 3 between 16 mile and 13 mile in Northern Newaygo county near Walkup Lake. It is about 1-1.5miles north of 13mile. The Sheriff is working with the vehicle owner to get it out of there by 1pm today. Once removed, there will likely be rut damage and potentially an area of snow plowed off the trail so use caution until we can get in there tomorrow to fix it. 🚨 We will be out grooming starting in the afternoon hours the next few days due to the extreme cold and for the safety of operators. Please use caution if you are out riding as we could be around any corner. Ride right, ride safe, and please be prepared for the extreme cold. #baldwinarea#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less
