Freezing rain/drizzle may lead to minor icing into early afternoon before better chances move into the eastern U.P. and Tip of the Mitt this evening. Rain transitions to snow this evening and tonight, combining with strong winds to lead to blizzard-like conditions across parts of the area on Monday. They are predicting roughly a foot of snow to fall tomorrow and 40-50mph winds. With the high winds we are expecting lots of trees and branches to be down on our trail system along with drifting snow. If your out riding on Tuesday please use caution, we will get out as soon as we can after the storm to assess the situation. #harborsprings #petoskey

No matter how much snow will fall, there will be strong northwest winds that will create blowing and drifting snow. Travel north of I-80 will be near impossible at times. Some road closures are possible along and north of I-90 given greater accumulation and more persistent blizzard-like conditions. Heaviest snowfall totals through sunrise Tuesday (there will be more after) will be along Lake Superior. Snowfall rates could exceed 2" an hour at times due to lake enhancement.
