Newberry Trail Report – 12/25

NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE… via Pine Stump

I don’t know where people get reports from but it gets old people calling and messaging saying they heard there’s no snow here and everything melted
Careful who you listen to
I’m sure some places got more rain and they had less snow to start.
A pictures worth a thousand words right.

PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Town Hall Snowmobile Club Paradise MI >> Didnโ€™t get going till after noon today and had a maintenance stop at Clarke Motel for some fresh carbides along the way. South out of Paradise is very bumpy and the route to Hulbert was scrapped really good but passable. Heavy traffic made corners bumpy and studder bumps most of our day. Some sections were great like Mission Hill trail and part of 8 (west of the strongs turn off before getting to Curley Lewis) - busy weekend normal stuff. Itโ€™s about to get really good with forecasted 2-3 feet coming! FYI- youโ€™ll want to avoid that little red diamond section south of paradise as we did- Itโ€™s wet in the Federal Forest #paradise #newberryDidnโ€™t get going till after noon today and had a maintenance stop at Clarke Motel for some fresh carbides along the way. PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Town Hall Snowmobile Club Paradise MI >> Woke up to 4-5โ€ of fresh snow in paradise. Did a nice 250 mile loop through Pine Stump road- Wolf Inn- Eagles Nest- Seney- Took 43 up to 8 and back to Grand Marias to Paradise. It is a good thing you skipped 8! There is a large section scraped to the ground because of logging operations and it absolutely sucks.

NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via TASA Tahquamenon Area Snowmobile Association >> Just in case you thought I couldn't make entering 9 from M123 in Newberry look this nice twice ๐Ÿ˜‰
Decision making time, thought we give her a try, 28โฐ and headed in the wrong direction, back to snow not agreeing with our needs very well, would if we in the snowman making business, wants to stick and not flow or cycle through the drag, 6 miles in, making her flat but if its not going to set up, it won't last at all.
Plenty of riding snow, just won't stay where we put it. Im going to flatten it out to the 498 intersection, and bring it back home for the night, I'll get right back in this thing as soon as the thermometer starts working with, rather than against us.
HEY!! ๐Ÿ˜Š More traffic already since I've seen all year, and they ALL pulled over!! ๐Ÿฅฐ TYTYTY!!
Busy busy busy!!
If its OK with you guys imma keep going, she needs us whether we like it or not, just remember earl season grooming conditions as well, dont be to harsh with your critiques K?

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County Sorva – 12/25

TRAIL REPORT – Saturday, December 25, 2021 7:30am

IT’S LIKE GETTING A CHUNK OF COAL FOR CHRISTMAS! No good news this time or pictures to share. As of this morning Grooming Operations are on still on hold due to the rain and warm weather conditions. We lost quite a bit of snow with wet areas and bare ground showing up along the roadways and in AuTrain. The remainder of the Trails are holding and should be OK as long as they freeze up again through today and tonight. The Holiday should help keep the traffic down and help save what we have. The ground is still not really frozen in most areas so if out riding be conservative to reduce base damage. We will be watching temperatures and snow conditions closely with grooming operations resuming as soon as possible. Do some serious Snow Dancing and Stay Tuned as we continue to report changing trail conditions.
