MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA – 3/23

TRAIL REPORT – Monday, 03/23/2020
GREAT TRAILS BUT SOCIAL DISTANCING REQUIRED!

UPDATE: We received official notice from the DNR that Grooming Operations are shut down. Trails are open for public use but grooming stops.
Overall trail conditions are good to very good. All of the Main Trails have been groomed and are holding a near perfect condition. Trail 8 North of Shingleton has grooming be finished up tonight with operations then on hold. Grooming Operations will resume when weather permits. We still have a very good base overall with great late season riding conditions. Near the towns we have thin snow on trails running along the roadways. Check Fuel and Food stops if heading out. There are questions coming in with Executive Order 2020-21 and snowmobiling, per the MI DNR website all Trails remain Open following Section 7.Exceptions/a./1. of the order. (copied in the detailed report) Be Safe!

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails – 3/23

We regret to inform everyone that between the announcement by our governor today and a week of warm weather coming up that we are ending our grooming operations for this season. That does not mean the trail is closed. It is still open until 4/1. It just means you will not see our die hard operators out on the trail until next season. Our gas stations will still be open. Our restaurants have been ceasing operations. Call ahead or check their Facebook pages to find out if they are open. We will start prepping for summer maintenance and getting ready for next season! We do have one HUGE favor to ask of all of you. When things return to normal, PLEASE visit our sponsoring businesses and thank them by buying their products, food, and gas and help get them back on their feet again so they will be there for you next season! Any little bit helps! Stay safe and thank you for the great season!

Any guess how long the fog might hang around this morning? No sun to burn it off.

Cooler near Lake Michigan.😊

It’s burning off over in the EUP and warming up nicely.

Happy Memorial Day weekend, everyone!

It is very strange, not being able to welcome you here this weekend, not having a full house as is typical. But, even though as of yesterday some businesses in limited capacities have been reopened in the northwestern part of the mitten and in the UP, as David Lorenz, the Vice President of Travel Michigan put it a couple of days ago, "it is important to recognize that while the order allows for residents to begin the process of returning to a sense of normalcy, it does not yet open general travel throughout the state."

Indeed, stay-at-home has now been extended to June 12th. I am very much hoping that this will be the last extension, and I will be able to welcome recreational travel once again come June 12th.

I have decided that, when I can do just that, I will offer the following discounts on my room rates (which are posted on the website and found in the booking system): 10% off for a one night stay, 15% off for a two night stay, and 20% off for a stay of three nights or more. No other discounts (senior, vet, UP Cruising, etc.) may be added to these discounts. I will offer these discounts through the fall color season in October.

Once again, Happy Memorial Day weekend! Stay safe and well. Have some fun!

Larry does this discount also apply to a booking already made, for a 4 night September stay?

I thought the u.p. Was open? My neighbor just got back and said he was in bars and restaurants.

I wish you and all Yoopers safety and good health. While I love the UP, I also understand that you have limited health resources. I wouldn't want my fun to impact Yoopers' health. Wishing all Yoopers good health through this difficult time.

Thanks for the updates. Looking forward to getting back up there soon.

I think you will see a lot of business when the state opens up more. I know that my husband and I were going to take our family to Wyoming this summer, but due to uncertainty have decided to take an in-Michigan trip that takes less planning and no airfare. Planning on a fun trip up north.

Absurd! People are safer outside than at stupid Walmart & all the other packed stores! Time for our country to move on! 🇺🇸🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸

Can’t wait for the first flakes to fall and be back up on the sleds! Maybe I’ll have to stop up and see it during the summer sometime too!

Hoping to book in July! Stay safe Larry!

Be well Larry. The flood gates will open and hopefully you can keep up with the demand. God bless you and your small business. #TERRACEMOTEL #MUNISING

Larry, are you open to essential workers?

We are looking forward to being there soon!!!!
