Petoskey Area Trail Report – 03/01

Heads Up for this weekends happenings!

We got another ride/vintage/ride what ya bring–stickerless ride happening Saturday March 5. Starts at the club sign in @10, ends at IR Eagles. Food and drinks available at the Eagles as they are hosting an Open to the Public event for us. Food and drinks on order. PLEASE come out and show support for both clubs.

Sunday March 6, BREAKFAST is back on as well!

Yes, we missed a week due to short staff, but we got food to cook up and put out. Bring a friend, bring an enemy, bring someone, and let’s try to make this a best of all this season just in case its the last one!

Just a reminder, we need to see 40-50 minimum people to "break even" on food costs. Come out, and let your voices be heard. If teams are willing, we will cook as long as there is a demand. Week by week as long as a show up. Consider forming a team and jump in on a rotation. All proceeds go towards a new groomer barn on location to house and work on our groomers.

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

HARBOR SPRINGS AREA UPDATE via Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club >> The snow didn’t disappoint yesterday! We gained back all the snow we lost in the warm up earlier this week plus some!
We had two groomers out last night, the railroad grade (trail 7) was groomed from Van road to Alanson, and all the trails on the East side of the Harbor Barn (717, 71, & 711) were all groomed.
Overall everything is in good shape, the trails were a bit icy yesterday but the added snow should help cover that up. There were a few open water holes behind the Pellston airport last night, temperatures are currently around 19 degrees so hoping those freeze back up quickly.
It’s a great day to get out and ride, stop by one of our sponsors for some lunch or dinner. Beach's Up North Tavern, Clyde's Place, or Moose Jaw Junction. #harborsprings #petoskey #snowphotosThe snow didn’t disappoint yesterday! Some parts in northeast lower and far eastern upper Michigan may break out into partial sunshine this afternoon. However, north-northwest to northwest winds today will remain brisk. Munising Area Trail Report – 03/01

TRAIL REPORT, March 1, 2022

One Month Left – Get Out There And Ride!

Days are getting longer with snow conditions starting to change with the added sunlight. No significant changes with a dusting of new snow and trails in an overall good condition. Operators were reporting very good results with our trails primarily in very good condition east of M94. The west side Trails are in good condition but we are finding have not been holding as long due to the lighter grooming equipment. Trails are expected to get choppy throughout the day. Operators are doing what they can with the tools at hand as we are still waiting for the return of our Big John Deere. Get out and Enjoy the Trails, Ride to the Right and Stay Tuned for updates!

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails – 2/28

Donnie made a run last night to straighten up the trail after another high traffic weekend. Trails have been getting rough later in the day, and we will continue to see this trend until traffic numbers decrease. Midweek trails should hold up better with mild temps still below freezing and some chances for snow early and late in the week.
***I have been getting reports from landowners on and near the trails of sledders trespassing on their property. The pipeline is not public property. The fields on the trail are not public property. Many of these fields still have barb wire and other hidden dangers around and in them.***
Ride right and ride safe.

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails >> We were able to get out for a short while last night. Trail is groomed from 417 to Rumley. Due to operator constraints, we were only able to make the partial run. It is an unfortunate reality we face as a volunteer organization. Between work and family obligations, we sometimes have small gaps in the schedule. Now that we have the trail set, we will be training in a couple more operators to help fill those gaps. A couple of our out of state operators will be back in the seat also! We are like every other club that does grooming. We are always looking for operators. If you have contacted us before and we didn’t get back to you, please feel free to reach out again. We didn’t forget about you. We just didnt have an opportunity to get you into training before the season ended. If anyone is interested in grooming, please send us a message! We will see what we can do to get you up in the seat!
Our repairs seem to have been successful and the snow is falling again! It does look like we have a small warm up coming soon, but it doesn’t look like it will stick around for any time. Sounds like results varied last night with a couple spots needing multiple passes to get back into rideable shape. It will definitely take a couple grooms with the hard base and fresh snow to get everything back to flat again. Ride right and ride safe! #munising #snowphotos

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Widespread snow will begin to spread west to east this morning while a heavier snowband looks to set up in the central UP this afternoon. Uncertainty still remains where this snowband will park, however, heavy snowfall rates will likely create difficult travel along US-41 from Delta to Marquette/Alger counties. Tonight, widespread snow transitions to lake effect snow for the north wind snowbelts.
