TRAIL REPORT March 6, 2022
WET RIDING CONDITIONS -GROOMING ON HOLD!
Plenty of snow with overall trails are in fair to good condition with the rain and warm temperatures. Current snow and weather conditions are prohibiting grooming. We will be watching temperatures and snow conditions closely to start back up as soon as possible. Work has been done on our Pisten Bully so both are ready and waiting. Trails are rough in some areas with the surprising amount of traffic yesterday during the rainy day weather. Watch for water holes that developed near the road crossings, also in some corners that may be icy. We do have had a few rollers developing so stay alert for changing trail conditions. Ride to the Right and Stay Tuned for updates!

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails – 3/5
Dean made a run last night to get corners cut and trails ready for today’s poor weather. He had some good results, but ran into some high water content snow from the warmup. Trails will take a beating with the weather and we will not be out tonight. We will be out as soon as temps allow us to make a cleanup run. Cross your fingers that it gets cold and the rain turns to snow. Ride right and ride safe!

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Light snow will continue moving into the western half of the UP over the next 2 hours. Snow will continue west to east quickly, diminishing in the Keweenaw and central as the night progresses. MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails >> We were able to get out for a short while last night. Trail is groomed from 417 to Rumley. Due to operator constraints, we were only able to make the partial run. It is an unfortunate reality we face as a volunteer organization. Between work and family obligations, we sometimes have small gaps in the schedule. Now that we have the trail set, we will be training in a couple more operators to help fill those gaps. A couple of our out of state operators will be back in the seat also! We are like every other club that does grooming. We are always looking for operators. If you have contacted us before and we didn’t get back to you, please feel free to reach out again. We didn’t forget about you. We just didnt have an opportunity to get you into training before the season ended. If anyone is interested in grooming, please send us a message! We will see what we can do to get you up in the seat!
Our repairs seem to have been successful and the snow is falling again! It does look like we have a small warm up coming soon, but it doesn’t look like it will stick around for any time. Sounds like results varied last night with a couple spots needing multiple passes to get back into rideable shape. It will definitely take a couple grooms with the hard base and fresh snow to get everything back to flat again. Ride right and ride safe! #munising #snowphotos

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Quieter weather settles in across the U.P. today as lingering snow showers tapering off this morning. A weak clipper system will bring another round of light snow tonight, but only expect another inch or so of accumulation in most locations. Uncertainty still remains where this snowband will park, however, heavy snowfall rates will likely create difficult travel along US-41 from Delta to Marquette/Alger counties. Tonight, widespread snow transitions to lake effect snow for the north wind snowbelts.

No big changes for the UP, although a bit more snow is now forecast for the Keweenaw and central UP.
