Good morning all!
For those that have been asking, we unfortunately have not received any new snow. At this point, there isn’t any in the forecast for the next few days. We could see lake effect bands start to set up but nothing so far. Trails are very hard packed and icy in many spots but still completely covered with a very good base. Road sides are bare. Again, the biggest issue is concern for overheating.
That’s all I can tell ya. Only you can decide what is best for you and your riding plans.
I’ll update if things change!

Good evening! Brimley Bill brought the Pisten Bully in to the Soo barn from Raco via trail 8 and groomed along the way. After 6”+ of new snow yesterday, the berms at the road crossings needed to be cleared.
He did a great job and the trail is flat, wide, and beautiful tonight!
The Bully is in for a thaw and an oil change and it’ll be back out to Raco tomorrow night.

Lane was out on 49 from Kinross north to 8 mile tonight. We’ve changed this route some, and our Kinross crew is running north to 8 mile, and the Soo crew is running south to 8 mile.

New snowfall of 4-8” with locally higher amounts are possible by Monday night/Tuesday morning. Wind gusts of 30-45+ mph are expected Monday morning and afternoon. Wind chills will drop well below zero through Tuesday as well. Combination of heavy snow, winds, and cold will create widespread hazardous travel conditions across northern Michigan with whiteouts possible at times, especially across open areas. Jay and I hit the city trails last night and they are in good shape. Some choppy spots due to heavier traffic earlier, but we smoothed them out as best we could and saw very little traffic on our run.
Snow was falling the whole run and should be a beautiful ride in the morning.
