We definitely don’t have a shortage of snow! Snow has continued to fall and trails are currently in good condition. We had a busy weekend with lots of riding and it may be bumpy by Lakes of the North and Johannesburg. Trail 7 is looking great! Be safe out there and have fun!
Please note, due to last April’s ice storm, there are logging operations in several locations. The newest locations are around Van Tyle and North Townline Road (Gaylord) and the intersection of trails 7 & 4 (Waters) toward Dodge Lake. Logging is also taking place on trail #4 along the powerline that crosses Evergreen Drive and near Turtle Lake Road (East of Gaylord). The logging trucks may use the trail as a road at times. Proceed with caution in these areas. Trails are still passable and the groomers are doing their best to smooth the trails out in these areas.
If this winter is anything like last year, it’s going to be another epic one! Want to be ready? Get a free trail map delivered right to your mailbox and plan your adventure!
Check out a live view of trail # 7 here.
A few things to remember about our groomers and trails:
– Groomers are out there to help you have a better riding experience and always have the right of way. – Please move off the trail when groomers are approaching and allow them to safely pass. – If you approach a groomer from behind, kindly wait for the operator to signal you to pass. – Grooming can take place at any time during the day or night, so stay alert. – Always ride on the right side of the trail. – Ride safe and ride sober.

Conditions are A plus times ten. Rode to Lovells last night and then home, left home this morning and rode towards Starvation Lake and then down to Frederic, conditions on trails nice and fluffy and smooth. Happy to say that trail 7 south out of Frederic along with trails 47, 679 and 76 all very nice. I rode 26 miles back here to Frederic and came into sledheads to warm up and am heading back out. Its 16 degrees at almost 1 in the afternoon. Pics are from last night and this morning. Heading back out. Closed again and gone riding. Thanks for checking in. Pete
WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> We gained a bunch of new followers here at MSC, so for those who are new here, welcome! We do more than just track storms. With our degreed meteorologists on staff, we also have our own in-house forecasts releasing every day, 365 days a year. Unfortunately, for our warm-weather enjoyers up north, this forecast is not for you. Snow is likely today, March 7th, 2026 on the backside of the low pressure system moving through, while parts of southern Michigan reach the mid-60s today. Most of the snow will fall along the spine of the western Upper Peninsula, where 2-5" of fresh snow is possible in the cornflower blue coloring. 1-3" of snow also possible in nearby Baraga and western Marquette county. A trace to 1" is possible for all areas in white, but most of these areas won't see more than a couple flurries mixed in with light freezing drizzle. Snow should be done by 10 pm EST across the Upper Peninsula. The rest of the state will be dealing with temperatures in the 40s to 60s with showers and thunderstorms, clearing by late evening. This will set the stage for a mostly sunny Sunday ahead. We got you covered as always right here at Michigan Storm Chasers, no matter the weather. #miweather #keweenaw#westernup#marquette#munising #seney #newberry #soo #petoskey#gaylordWe gained a bunch of new followers here at MSC, so for those who are new here, welcome! FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> Thursday 10 a.m. -- Well we lost more snow yesterday as it got up to 53 degrees, so far this morning only up to 36. Things still look suprisingly white. Saw sleds out and about yesterday and we went to Lovells to the Riverside for lunch. I didnt ride mysled but I drove out there. The pics below were a group of riders from Canton OHio with the flying tigers snowmoblile club. Heck the one guy was riding in shorts. They left their buddy Patrick back in Ohio and they said they were heading to the u.p. today to the Clarke Motel for a run up there. The end is getting close but I still believe you can get a ride in if you want to ride around Frederic. #gaylord#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less

FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> Saw many sleds yesterday out and about and only 2 so far this morning but we didnt lose much snow yesterday but it is up to 43 today. The warmth will help melt and leave some lube for those that are adventureous enough to get a ride in. My sled is buried in the corner right now but I know I could get a good ride in if I was a bit more ambitious. There is so much ice underneath I think thats what is helping keep the snow on top. #gaylord#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less
