LAKE GOGEBIC AREA UPDATE via Gogebic Area Grooming – 02/27
Happy Monday. Trails 13n,13s,8e,102 and 1 were all groomed last night/morning. I would rate trails in overall good condition. The corners are a handful at the moment, the snow get’s pushed to the outside while soft then freezes in tight late night. Been working on getting those back under control but otherwise all trails are good and we are Grooming daily. Come up and enjoy!!

Working out all the bumps and berms on Trail 1S between Fishtales and Presque Isle! Time to get some sleep and do it all over again tomorrow!
ONTONAGON AREA UPDATE via Scott's Superior Inn and Cabins >> ❄️ Ontonagon / Porcupine Mountains Snowmobile Trail Report – Winter Storm Wrap-Up ❄️ What a storm! This latest system absolutely delivered, with measured totals ranging from 14 to 24 inches across the region — all depending on which ZIP code you call home. Either way, this was a game-changer snowfall for the western U.P. The result? Trails are as good as they’ve been in years. Deep base, excellent coverage, and that soft, ride-anywhere feel that makes the Porkies and Ontonagon area so special. The fresh snow bonded well, filling in old imperfections and setting us up beautifully for grooming. If cold temps stick around (and they are), we’re in a sweet spot. Expect: • Outstanding coverage on main corridors • Great conditions on secondary trails • Off-trail areas loaded with snow (use caution and ride smart) Another clipper is heading our way starting today bringing another foot of snow and brutal cold for the weekend. Stay inside if you can and keep all skin covered. This is the kind of reset we wait all winter for — and right now, it’s prime time to ride the western U.P. 👉 Thinking about making a trip? Trails run right past Scott’s Superior Inn & Cabins — warm rooms, rider-friendly parking, and Lake Superior views when you’re done for the day. Book a stay and make a weekend out of these unreal conditions. As always: ride right, ride safe, and we’ll see you on the trail. 🛷❄️ #ontonagon #westernup#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less

SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 02/27
Good morning all!
Groomer Pete was out on the city trails last night. Here’s his report from his run-
“I groomed the City trails tonight. Tonight I realized it was light out when I started at 6 pm. A sobering reminder that the winter is in its twilight. It’s my third groom of the week. Do you ever feel like you live in a groomer? Overall, I think our entire trails system is great. I think I rode all of them this week on my sled, and I couldn’t be more pleased. It’s always refreshing to come home to my home trails after a long ride. It’s almost a guarantee that two or more groomers are out every night. The Chippewa trails were in good shape this weekend too, so props to them for their work.
I’d like to take a moment to appreciate the hard work of some people that get little to no recognition for keeping this circus moving. Mike our groomer coordinator, Dave the Raco regional assistant director of supervising the groomers to support the groomer coordinator, Tom our president, and our groomer maintenance guy Buck. Buck works nearly full time all year on the 4 machines and the barn. Tool management, parts ordering, repairs, maintenance, getting fuel delivered, ordering propane fills, welding……the list of things Buck does could go on for pages. Without those four guys, the hooligan groomers would probably self destruct.
Enjoy the trails while they are good!”
More snow if on the way tonight with the possibility of some freezing rain/ice. We’ll update on how that turns out but shouldn’t really hurt us as the trails are in great shape.
Ride safe!❄️❄️❄️

SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 02/25
Wow! What a difference it makes when there is snow in the northern lower and across the UP!
Just got back from a ride to Paradise and the trails were excellent on the way out AND back! The swamp south of Paradise has some water spots and mud, to be expected but their part of 8 and 452 was awesome! Chippewa Snowchasers part of 8 was also awesome, as were our parts of 8 and 889!
Lower traffic and recent snow have things in great shape here in the EUP!
Headed out to groom now. Gotta pay to play! I’ll report when I get back.
Ride safe everyone! ❄️❄️❄️
Pic of one of the 2 groomers we saw out and about from Paradise Area Night Riders . Nice to meet you guys!
SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 1/21/26 Good morning! Bryan and his son Logan hit the city trails last night and also 49 down to 7 mile and they turned out great! The little streams behind Kewadin Casino are still flowing (see the video in the comments) even with all of the cold, but our bridges have made a huge difference in there! There is one spot along the Kewadin trail that is soft and we keep filling it in as best we can. Likely a nonissue for the weight of a sled, but worth mentioning. Thank you Bryan and Logan!!❄️❄️❄️ #soo #soo0121b#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less
SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 1/21/26 Good evening! Groomer Pat hit the Kinross east loop this evening. This is 49 south of M80 and the 494 loop (one of my favorites!) Looking beautiful! Thank you Pat! ❄️❄️❄️ #soo #soo0121#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less

Brimley Bill brought the Pisten Bully in to the Soo barn from Raco via trail 8 and groomed along the way. After 6”+ of new snow yesterday, the berms at the road crossings needed to be cleared. He did a great job and the trail is flat, wide, and beautiful tonight! The Bully is in for a thaw and an oil change and it’ll be back out to Raco tomorrow night. Thanks Bill! ❄️❄️❄️ #soo #soo0120b#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less
