Tractor Mac is headed from White Pine to Lake of the Clouds & South Boundary Road (Trails 1 and 11) and Wyatt is grooming from the NCSC clubhouse to Greenland and back (Trail 12). This latest system absolutely delivered, with measured totals ranging from 14 to 24 inches across the region — all depending on which ZIP code you call home. Either way, this was a game-changer snowfall for the western U.P. The result? Trails are as good as they’ve been in years. Deep base, excellent coverage, and that soft, ride-anywhere feel that makes the Porkies and Ontonagon area so special. The fresh snow bonded well, filling in old imperfections and setting us up beautifully for grooming. If cold temps stick around (and they are), we’re in a sweet spot. Expect: This is the kind of reset we wait all winter for — and right now, it’s prime time to ride the western U.P. 👉 Thinking about making a trip? The first round of a potentially active week of winter weather is set to impact the UP tonight through Wednesday. Widespread snowfall develops develops tonight, lasting through Wednesday with trailing lake effect snow into the afternoon. The greatest snowfall accumulations are expected across the northern central, mainly the high terrain of Marquette County.

Forecasts are calling for up to a foot and a half of fresh snow between Wednesday and Sunday, which in true Upper Peninsula fashion means two things:
1. Mother Nature isn’t done yet.
2. The snowmobiles might be getting one more victory lap. 🏁
So go ahead and dust off those sleds, find that hat you already packed away, and get ready for what could be some epic late-season riding. Fresh snow, quiet trails, and that beautiful Lake Superior winter backdrop we all love.

Well, we’re almost through the one-week warm-up and honestly…it wasn’t nearly as bad as originally projected. 👍
The big win? No rain. Temperatures also didn’t get nearly as high as the forecasts were calling for, so the snowmobile trails held up far better than expected and were not destroyed.
Even better news: cold weather returns Tuesday, along with about a half foot of fresh snow in the forecast. ❄️ The groomers will be back out and working their magic as soon as conditions allow.
With the massive snow base we still have, there will absolutely be great riding available for the coming weeks. Late season riding in the Western U.P. is often some of the best of the year.

That being said, we have #8 running 1n to White Pine to see what kind of shape the trail's are actually in. Sunday and Monday look to be above freezing but beyond that, it looks favorable... Snow is likely today, March 7th, 2026 on the backside of the low pressure system moving through, while parts of southern Michigan reach the mid-60s today. Most of the snow will fall along the spine of the western Upper Peninsula, where 2-5" of fresh snow is possible in the cornflower blue coloring. 1-3" of snow also possible in nearby Baraga and western Marquette county. A trace to 1" is possible for all areas in white, but most of these areas won't see more than a couple flurries mixed in with light freezing drizzle. Snow should be done by 10 pm EST across the Upper Peninsula.
The rest of the state will be dealing with temperatures in the 40s to 60s with showers and thunderstorms, clearing by late evening. This will set the stage for a mostly sunny Sunday ahead.
