Traverse City Trail Report – 02/28

TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Grand Traverse Area Snowmobile Club – 2/28

We received about 4 inches of snow yesterday. Groomer Jeff ran the east trail and reported that the new snow was needed after a busy weekend. Still some thin areas but overall good. Groomer Jeff, (yes we had the Jeff and Jeff show) ran the north run and reported the same.

Temps are forecasted to be in the mid 30’s today so you may want to get out and ride. Remember, Ride Right, Ride Safe, Ride Sober.

ribbon he was putting down, I would have to agree. Thanks Mike for volunteering your time to groom the trails. #traversecity #snowphotos

Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 02/28

SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 02/28

This is proof right here that we are our own worst critics lol… Steve sent me this report right after I posted on what I saw on 8 and the city trails. Granted, 49 from the Soo to Kinross is a whole different animal with lots of open areas, prone to drifts (I love those areas!) Here’s what he had to say-
“Tonight Passenger Chris and I headed out on Trail 49 like we do every Monday night.

We had a list of signs that needed attention and decided we were going to fix them tonight.

Little did we know that would be our biggest accomplishment of the evening.

We went out in high winds and encountered heavy drifting before we even got out of town. The trails have seen lots of traffic with the drifts packed down and rougher than rough.
We did what we could knocking them down and getting the trail somewhat back to level.

We turned around in Kinross to head back north and couldn’t believe what we seen. The trails we just groomed were even more drifted than when we started.

We had high winds and heavy snow on most of the return trip. It was a grueling night in the cab as we bounced around all night long.

At times, we were guessing where we thought the trail was. Visibility was poor all the way back.

Good news is we are getting more snow. Bad news is we are going to need a little time to get the trails back in order.
Hope you enjoy the photos.

Steve Lawson”

Have no fear, we’ll be out taming them where needed! ❄️❄️❄️

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 1/21/26
Good morning! Bryan and his son Logan hit the city trails last night and also 49 down to 7 mile and they turned out great! The little streams behind Kewadin Casino are still flowing (see the video in the comments) even with all of the cold, but our bridges have made a huge difference in there! There is one spot along the Kewadin trail that is soft and we keep filling it in as best we can. Likely a nonissue for the weight of a sled, but worth mentioning.
Thank you Bryan and Logan!!❄️❄️❄️ #soo #soo0121b #snowphotos

Good evening! Brimley Bill brought the Pisten Bully in to the Soo barn from Raco via trail 8 and groomed along the way. After 6”+ of new snow yesterday, the berms at the road crossings needed to be cleared.
He did a great job and the trail is flat, wide, and beautiful tonight!
The Bully is in for a thaw and an oil change and it’ll be back out to Raco tomorrow night.
Thanks Bill! ❄️❄️❄️ #soo #soo0120b #snowphotos
