HARBOR SPRINGS AREA UPDATE via Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club – 01/19
We had a great turnout for the 60th Annual Moose Jaw Safari! We had roughly 160 sleds leave from the groomer barn & picked up multiple groups along the way. Thank you to this years trail boss Rob Parson for leading the way!
The trails are getting thin in some areas but are still rideable, the forecast is showing 8” between today & Wednesday! Almost all of our trails were groomed between yesterday morning & last night. We will be out on the grade tonight running Pellston to Alanson, there’s not enough snow to go any further north.

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Snow will diminish this morning, ending by early afternoon. Some parts in northeast lower and far eastern upper Michigan may break out into partial sunshine this afternoon. However, north-northwest to northwest winds today will remain brisk. Gusts to around 30 mph will be common. No big changes for the UP, although a bit more snow is now forecast for the Keweenaw and central UP. HARBOR SPRINGS AREA UPDATE via Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club >> We hit record breaking temperatures this morning with 49 degrees in Pellston. It’s still too warm for grooming but the temps are heading in the right direction. We have an operator heading out around 2am to hit as many trails as he can, and then groomers lined up on the grade & east side of the trail system for tomorrow night.
Trail 7 (railroad grade) is opened back up for the weekend! They will be closing it again on Monday for a short period but after that they will be done.

Mild temps this morning will fall through the day, eventually transitioning rain to snow across parts of northern Michigan. A brief period of hazardous travel is possible this afternoon with falling snow and strong winds leading to quick drops in visibility for drivers.
