Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via Midwest Weather >> ~(Updated) Snowfall Forecast Sunrise Sunday-Sunrise Tuesday~
A major winter storm is expected to bring significant snowfall to portions of the region. Most of the accumulating snow will be along and north of I-80. No matter how much snow will fall, there will be strong northwest winds that will create blowing and drifting snow. Travel north of I-80 will be near impossible at times. Some road closures are possible along and north of I-90 given greater accumulation and more persistent blizzard-like conditions. Heaviest snowfall totals through sunrise Tuesday (there will be more after) will be along Lake Superior. Snowfall rates could exceed 2" an hour at times due to lake enhancement. Expect over a foot in most areas along the lakeshore before dropping as you get closer to the WI border. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskey~OUTDATED~

Baldwin Area Trail Report – 02/05

BALDWIN AREA UPDATE via Trailriders Snowmobile Club >> 02/05

2/5 Update: Club president Dan spent 12 hours in the 6150R yesterday working on the north loop (mainly trails 3 & 35 NW of Baldwin) along with parts of the middle section and honeymoon loop (trails 3, 320, and 324). Overall the conditions turned out pretty good down that way. There is 1 section along trail 3 near 18mile rd in northern Newaygo County with an ongoing logging operation. He was able to make a trail next to the plowed section in that area for sleds to have a better place to ride. However, please use extreme caution ⚠️ in this area as log trucks and equipment will likely be frequently in that area 🚨. Also, he encountered a stuck UPS truck on trail 3 near US10 that was trying to use the seasonal road/trail for a shortcut. Fortunately he was able to help them get out and cleaned up the trail damage with the groomer. That’s its for today, keep up your snow ❄️ dances and hope the next 2 systems track through our area, so we can get all 160 miles groomed and back in god shape! TRSC Secretary Brian

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

BALDWIN AREA UPDATE via Trailriders Snowmobile Club >> 12/28 Update: Club president Dan and Secretary Brian, took the 6195R and 2 saws to clear downed trees and brush today. They covered trails 3, 320, and 324 frim Baldwin South to 8 mile near Woodland Park. There were quite a few leaners and decent size trees across the trail we were able to clean up. There is still a good base on most sections that will make a good hard ice base when it cools down and we get some snow. There were quite a few ruts from trucks and atvs that will need filling when we get some snow. If forecasters are right, we may be out grooming tomorrow night! Keep up the snow dances!
Reminder, we will be opening, brushing and signing trail 19 from trail 320 west towards Hart January 1st. We are looking for more help to open gates and clear trees ahead of the grooming tractor that will be coming right behind. With the snow coming, we will likely be using snowmobiles and pulling a sled with sign posts, saws, augers and gear. Please reach out if you are available to help. #baldwinarea #snowphotos
