Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 03/20

It actually got up to 50 yesterday and never got below freezing Sunday night.

Today is another 40+ day and trails are going fast. Doesn’t look to good for next weekend.

There may be snow left west of Brimley but I think there will be lots of dirt and water showing everywhere else.

Trails are in Poor shape. Today a few big bare spots are starting to appear in open areas or at some crests of hills they will continue to grow n size and number as the week progresses. Groomers have not run since Saturday. There is no snow on road shoulders.

trails are icy anywhere out in the open and with the wind watch for trees down

We are grooming all the way to Lakeshore Dr on trail #8 west of Raco as Paradise can’t get thru the swamp

Remember when riding on the side of road (shoulder) you must always go with the flow of traffic. Unless the trail is groomed in the Right of way and never comes out unto shoulder. Example is trail #49 from Soo to Kinross has several spots where we groom in ditch but it keeps coming back up to the shoulder to go around driveways. You need to always be with the flow of car traffic here. Don’t get a ticket by going against the traffic flow. ... See MoreSee Less

Would much rather,face traffic,even if it's illegal..

So on trail #49 (as an example) we should not be riding the groomed trail if we are traveling in the opposite direction of the traffic due to the trail coming up into the shoulder to “go around driveways”? The “You need to always be EITHER the flow of car traffic here” does not make sense... What does the “either” mean? Or did you mean we should “be GOING WITH the flow of traffic here”? If so, then is the other side groomed as well? Just making sure I completely understand. TY!

Thanks for the heads up
