Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 03/20

It actually got up to 50 yesterday and never got below freezing Sunday night.

Today is another 40+ day and trails are going fast. Doesn’t look to good for next weekend.

There may be snow left west of Brimley but I think there will be lots of dirt and water showing everywhere else.

Trails are in Poor shape. Today a few big bare spots are starting to appear in open areas or at some crests of hills they will continue to grow n size and number as the week progresses. Groomers have not run since Saturday. There is no snow on road shoulders.

trails are icy anywhere out in the open and with the wind watch for trees down

We are grooming all the way to Lakeshore Dr on trail #8 west of Raco as Paradise can’t get thru the swamp

Cold temps called for the next two weeks so it will get things frozen up. Snow is called for each day for he next few days. Less snow to the south and gates still closed. ... See MoreSee Less

If you are thinking about taking your sled for a ride due to all the snow early, remember early season riding applies. There are rocks, stumps, dirt moguls, and water holes not yet covered by a bunch of snow. There is no base for your ski carbides to grab and power thru a corner. Plus the wet and warm fall has many water holes unfrozen. So ride aware and don’t wreck your season the first time out. ... See MoreSee Less

Well said. Our excitement over the snow should not overshadow our common sense.
