Just another quick head up. I will be grooming and trimming back the brush today/tonight on 443 and 88. I will start the trimming again on 443 about 1.5 miles north of the intersection of 88. Then I will be heading westbound on 88 trying to trim/cut back as much as possible. I will have groomer Alex out with me, so hopefully we can make faster progress. I will continue to pull off to the side of the trail as much as I can to allow safe passage by and not interrupt your riding enjoyment!! Thank you all for your patience and understanding. I will see ya’s on the trails! Ride safe, ride right.

This should have been our sign to turn around back to grand marais. We went around it and had to deal with the drifted plains part of the trail the rest of the way to Pinestump.
GRAND MARAIS AREA UPDATE via Grand Marais Sno-Trails Assoc. >> All trails have groomed in the last 24 hours. We are still dealing with drifting in the usual areas, especially east towards Pine Stump. Check your Groomer Tracker App for updates. All roadside trails near town have now been set, but it is early with minimal base so ride with caution. #grandmarais #newberry ... See MoreSee Less

JORDAN VALLEY AREA UPDATE via Jordan Valley Trails Council – 01/11
Some pictures from grooming this week
Overall trails are in fair shape, covered but thin. Our guys did some measurements and there is 1-4” on entire trail system. 131 is thin in spots the entire way. #trail4 toward EJ is the thinnest section of trail we have closer to town, but it’s rideable. Corners are bare in the bottom, random super thin patch in the heavy canopy areas. Much of the roughness is ultimately the underlying ground and frozen ground beneath the snow. Logging is still taking place in the North 10, be cautious as we’ve had reports of limbs and brush in the trails. Trail 766 is CLOSED but we are still working with the DNR and ACRC on an acceptable resolution to get it opened back up, soon ultimately we need more snow in there regardless.
Our volunteers have been out doing what they can with current conditions. Mid week grooming with continue to be groomed as snow and conditions warrant, every other day roughly and we’ll be out on the weekends. It’s forecasted for 6-10” early next week which will whiten things up but not add much to the trail. The new snow will work well as we don’t have much dirt and sand mixed into what’s on the trail thankfully. Stay tuned for further updates from our groomers through the week.
Shout out to all our volunteers for devotion grooming and hitting the trails on sleds to check current conditions as well as our friends down at Kalkaska County Sand and Snow – KCSAS as there are many phone calls with them on conditions.
Be sure to check out our snowmobile clubs and go support them. Antrim County Snowmobile Club has a sled raffle going on as well as their clubhouse is open on Saturdays. East Jordan Trailblazers have their Sunday Breakfast all season long as well as a club raffle. They are the core of our organization and we can’t thank them enough!

JORDAN VALLEY AREA UPDATE via Jordan Valley Trails Council >> What a week it’s turned out to be! Can’t thank all our volunteers for hitting the trails hard this week and fixing random issues that popped up with trails and machines. Friday was the first day we’ve had all 3 machines up and running, which didn’t last long. What a day today was! We had a track the belts let loose and stranded a volunteer on the trail. Quickly some phone calls were made and we had 5 people converging to head out and rescue. Soon after I called Kevin grooming in the 6215R and told him we had a problem and he said I’m in. As he got back from grooming the North 10 and Jordan Valley, we quickly unhooked the drag, got our work tractor fired up and we were off. After we arrived we assessed the situation and came up with a game plan to get the machine moved off the trail, which was a home run, couldn’t have went any better! Thanks to Mike, Phil (and those that rescued him from the trail so he could go get warmer work clothes and rushed right back), Kevin, Scott, Frank and the other Phil who had a “back ache” and couldn’t attend the festivities 😁. Hats off to the multiple groups that stopped and asked if we needed anything and Chris P’s group that helped us get the heavy track into our loader. Can’t thank all these people enough for their efforts today! Many text and phone calls once we were out of the woods and our friends at Kalkaska County Sand and Snow - KCSAS called us and said, we have a track, come get it! Tomorrow we will be heading to meet Rick and picking up a track to get us back on the trail! We can’t thank our friends and neighbors enough for quickly getting with us when they knew we were down. Plan is to get the machine back up and running Monday! Hoping by Tuesday evening we’ll have all our trails back into shape as all you riders expect! Thank you for your patience. 🚧If you’re in the area of Mancelona Road / Sand Lake Road please be cautious as the machine will be there another day. 🚧 On a high note, trails are great right now for the recent weather! Hopefully this weeks warm up won’t hurt too bad and will tighten up all this new lake effect snow and make trails even better for the weekend when temps drop back down! **this is the “fun” stuff that happens all over the state that volunteers do everyday. Much of it goes undocumented behind the scenes** #jordanvalley#gaylord#petoskey#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less

FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> I never made it on here yesterday but there were a steady stream of sleds and its now a cloudy and calm saturday morning at 24 degrees. Havent seen any sleds yet but have had a few calls. I have had several people that I have met thru the years that I havent seen in a long time. Its great to catch up with people. Steve who has a place in traverse city stopped and I rode with him up around lake leelanau years ago. Several people from pennsylvania and I want to send a shout out to Jim Wilkerson in Pennsylvania. He is another great memory from the past. A group of Indiana riders and one of them said I had inspired him to get his knees fixed after I had mine done. Another family Brian and Diedre who bought a home thru me about 20 years ago and brought their daughters in. One of them was only 2 back then and is now in college. I have seen alot of kids grow up over the years and now those little kids are bringing their own in. Thats the circle of life…….Here are some pics from yesterday and a east and west shot of the trail 7 north of the high school on old 27.Snow is holding good…..Thanks for checking in.
