HARBOR SPRINGS AREA UPDATE via Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club – 12/05
We haven’t gotten near the snow that they’ve been calling for over the last few days. The snow depths vary across the trails system, we have roughly 10” in Harbor Springs but only about 5” up in Carp Lake. We had high winds over night which will continue throughout today, some areas will be drifted & there’s a possibility for down branches / trees.
All the gates will be opened up by tonight. We will keep everyone updated as to when we can start grooming.

HARBOR SPRINGS AREA UPDATE via Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club >> The snow didn’t disappoint yesterday! We gained back all the snow we lost in the warm up earlier this week plus some!
We had two groomers out last night, the railroad grade (trail 7) was groomed from Van road to Alanson, and all the trails on the East side of the Harbor Barn (717, 71, & 711) were all groomed.
Overall everything is in good shape, the trails were a bit icy yesterday but the added snow should help cover that up. There were a few open water holes behind the Pellston airport last night, temperatures are currently around 19 degrees so hoping those freeze back up quickly.
It’s a great day to get out and ride, stop by one of our sponsors for some lunch or dinner. Some parts in northeast lower and far eastern upper Michigan may break out into partial sunshine this afternoon. However, north-northwest to northwest winds today will remain brisk. Gusts to around 30 mph will be common. WEATHER UPDATE via Pictured Rocks Marine Weather Conditions >> Here's the updated 24-hour snowfall forecast through 7am Sunday (top figure) compared to the same forecast from two days ago (bottom figure). No big changes for the UP, although a bit more snow is now forecast for the Keweenaw and central UP. It’s still too warm for grooming but the temps are heading in the right direction. We have an operator heading out around 2am to hit as many trails as he can, and then groomers lined up on the grade & east side of the trail system for tomorrow night.
Trail 7 (railroad grade) is opened back up for the weekend! They will be closing it again on Monday for a short period but after that they will be done.
