Ironwood Trail Report – Gogebic Range Trail Authority – 01/19

This picture is trail 2 in Ironwood; the rail beds are holding up nicely and listed in good condition(discoloration seen from highway sand).

Grooming is currently not an option until temperatures drop below freezing.

The trail from Ramsay Crossing to Wakefield is in poor condition, very low snow in spots, half of it is in good condition. We’ve seen a lot of sleds up here during the week and the trails haven’t degraded much at all. With the temps keeping us from grooming trail conditions could be rough by the weekend, however.

Please tread lightly on the trails, please stay on the trails, we’ll get out grooming as soon as the weather allows.

Think snow, not rain!

Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 01/19

This is the Keweenaw Snowmobile Trail System Report for Thursday, January 19, 2017.

Snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are open and trails are in good to very good condition with a base ranging from 12-24 inches. The mat on the Portage Lift Bridge is down. There are some water holes near Canal Road in Houghton.

The groomers are going out and trails are holding up nicely with the warmer weather.

Trail 122 is closed for logging. You can still access the Dreamland trail from Lake Linden but DO NOT go beyond. You can take Trail 124 to get to Gay.

Remember when you’re out on the trails to watch out for the groomers. They have the right away. Use caution around logging areas.

The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, drive safely. The signs on the trails are there for riders’ safety so please DO NOT remove or destroy them.

Snowfall & Weather Report:
Snowfall in the Keweenaw Peninsula – 33 inches of snow on the ground, 169.5 inches fallen to date as of 1/19/17.
