LAKE GOGEBIC AREA UPDATE via Gogebic Area Grooming >> We'll just do an all out photo dump!! Couldn't ask for anything better than help! We were moving by 9am with plans in mind to break in two different crews and open up 13s. One group started at the north end of East shore Rd. 2nd Root Cellar. Only section we avoided was the swamp area just south of the Root Cellar when you dip back in the woods about a half mile. Our helper on snowmobile made it through no problem. We met him on the other side. We got a lot done today. Thank you everyone that helped. Now snow and cold!!❄️❄️❄️ #lakegogebic #westernup #snowphotos ... See MoreSee Less

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> The end of November and beginning of December have been quite snowy! Thanks to our colleagues at the Grand Rapids office for putting this map and post together. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsareaThe warm Great Lakes and cold atmosphere teamed up for a week after Thanksgiving to deliver heaps of lake effect snow. New snow measured daily amounted to over 4 feet in parts of Northern Michigan. Some places saw 1 to 2 feet of snow fall in a day. Usually, lake effect snow is rather fluffy, but even so, this amount of snow up north settled into a good 2-foot base of snowpack. In southwest Michigan, mainly southwest of Grand Rapids, snow totals were around 1 to 2 feet, though a fair amount of it would settle and melt into the ground days later. Less than 6 inches of snow was more typical in Mid and Southeast Michigan. ... See MoreSee Less

SIDNAW - BRUCE CROSSING UPDATE via Sno Valley Riders Snowmobile Club >> We have groomed all of our system a couple of times now. The west side is OK, 3 north to Rockland has many wet spots and a couple of bigger holes that will need snow and cold to smooth them out. The east side is pretty nice, the grade is thin in the middle everywhere. #sidnaw #westernup ... See MoreSee Less

ONTONAGON AREA UPDATE via North Country Snowmobile Club UP >> Today's update is brought to you by Roxey's Bar & Grill in downtown Ontonagon! A fantastic destination today with great trail conditions to and from! Trails that are rideable are in good shape, the others, heed warnings! Please support the sponsors that support us!!!
Trail 137: starts thinning the last 1/2 mile as you drop north into Ontonagon. Plenty of snow and we even covered the bare spot underneath the bridge. Groomed last night
Trail 12 from 137 east to Greenland: Mega water holes. Likely impassable for most riders. Rolled and packed for first timers Thursday night. Riding not advised.
Trail 12 from Ontonagon WEST to 101: CLOSED, BRIDGE OUT. Opening Jan 2025.
Trail 13: Rated good to very good. Deepest trail we found. Groomed up very well last night. Groomed in road route ditch trail
Trail 101: Very good to excellent. Groomed up last night.
Trail 12 from 101 to White Pine: fair to good. Water holes will reopen today, but it had a ton of snow along the power lines! Be mindful of driveway crossings! Also groomed in road route ditch trail.
Trail 1 to Trail 11: Poor, but rideable. Snow farming operations turned it to snirt as snow levels dropped as you went north (very typical as you go to the lake).
Trail 1 to Lake Of The Clouds: Fair. Thin snow. Groomed last night.
Trail 11: Has not been groomed or rolled, but should be a great ride on the unplowed south Boundary road. #ontonagon #westernup #snowphotos ... See MoreSee Less

LAKE GOGEBIC AREA UPDATE via Gogebic Area Grooming >> Your Friday December 6th evening update from the Bergland area.. We had a machine go up 102 this morning to reset and fill waterholes. It's not perfect but getting better and we're pretty confident we can start pulling a drag up that trail. Trail 8e to Ewen had it's first groom of the season and turned out really nice but thin. 13n to Rockland had it's first groom tonight but we haven't heard any report on conditions yet. Heard chatter on the radio saying it also turned out good. Tomorrow we are planning a crew of people giving 13s on the East side of lake Gogebic some much needed attention. Use caution if riding 13s, we will be there in 2 different groups with Bully's, sleds and people during daylight hours. Most likely we will stay off the trails Sunday with this brief warmup forecast to protect what we've already established. Good evening everyone, busy day tomorrow.❄️❄️❄️ #lakegogebic #westernup #snowphotos ... See MoreSee Less

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> A system approaching overnight will bring around a half inch of snow to the south and west with up to 4 inches possible in the north and east. While overnight lows will mainly be in the teens, Saturday warms up to the mid 30s, bringing with some rain, snow, freezing rain, and sleet, though accumulations of ice and sleet will be light. Some gusty winds up to 30 mph are possible over the Keweenaw.
