So we are supposed to get a storm, multiple inches supposed to start this afternoon. Right now we have had about 2 inches of lake effect since yesterday. If we really get 6 to ten inches it should make it passable for this coming weekend. I busted my plow truck back out and am ready to move some snow. I will do video update later in the day if the snow is coming down like they say it is going to.
Sunday afternoon I decided to run away and loaded up my sled and headed up to Grand Marais to the Superior Hotel. I got there about 4 and got settled in nice and cozy. Got up monday morning and headed out on a ride, rode the crazy 8s. Went to Melstrand, Bear Trap, Shingleton and back to Grand Marais. 95 mile ride. Trails were not perfect but they didnt beat me to death either so I was happy with that. Monday nite about 6 new inches fell and it was snowing and blowing hard so I decided I didnt want to fight the visiblity factor and came back home. It was a nice escape.
Pics below are from different stops along the route. Had a great burger at the Strongs Tavern yesterday plus their fries were really good too. Also pizza at the Dunes in GM was super good too. Lets hope for a real weekend of riding in the Frederic area. Thanks for checking in. Pete

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Jan 25 2026...Most areas stay quiet across the Northwoods for the first couple days of the week, with the exception of the shorelines, which have a better shot at seeing some lake effect snow showers at times. The next best chance of snow comes later Monday into Monday night with the next clipper system swinging in. Light northerly winds today become light and variable tonight…then west to southwest and increasing a bit for Monday and Monday night with that clipper. FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> Frosty and crunchy at 4 degrees on friday morning in Frederic, I saw the groomer heading out on 47 trail by the high school and 2 sleds right at that corner too. Already been several sleds in this morning and I made an early trip to the Sled Shed to get me some carbides for my ski doo. Those carbides have been on back order all season and I got the last set of 6 inch from Sled Shed. I wanted to make sure I get to ride again. I am happy to say that several riders told me that all trails they were on were well groomed. That is good to hear. The OSSA group were in here yesterday afternoon and they are staying up in Gaylord this year and at least we have great snow this year. Thanks Gary Hines for stopping in with everyone. Already sold the 4 pair of Gauntlets that I had this morning. My frederic-mi.com site is messed up again and Rebecca is on that. I was bummed to see the guys that were winter camping in my back lot left last night. I thought they were staying thru the weekend. Thanks for checking in. Pete #gaylord #snowphotos

FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> been trying to get onto my frederic page and cant do it, its now 4 on thursday, rode yesterday to gaylord, then vienna corners back to lovells and then frederic for a great 80 miles. Had loader here again today, sleds downtown grayling at the restaurant, winter campers in back yard of sledheads, yummy burger at vienna loader really stacked it up this time. hope to get my other page going again, dont know wha the deal is, lots of wind and white outs today, supposed to get colder tommorow. OSSA crew from Ohio State Snowmobile Association were and on their annual ride based out of Gaylord this year. Thanks for checking in. Pete #gaylord #snowphotos
