The snow just keeps coming! Gaylord received a heaping helping of snow this week and all trails are in good to excellent shape. Stay safe and warm out there and have fun!
Visiting this weekend? Check out the Michigan Snow Run – Pink Ribbon Riders event!
Please note, due to last April’s ice storm, there are logging operations in several locations. The newest locations are around Van Tyle and North Townline Road (Gaylord) and the intersection of trails 7 & 4 (Waters) toward Dodge Lake. Logging is also taking place on trail #4 along the powerline that crosses Evergreen Drive and near Turtle Lake Road (East of Gaylord). The logging trucks may use the trail as a road at times. Proceed with caution in these areas. Trails are still passable and the groomers are doing tiheir best to smooth the trails out in these areas.
If this winter is anything like last year, it’s going to be another epic one! Want to be ready? Get a free trail map delivered right to your mailbox and plan your adventure!

A few things to remember about our groomers and trails:
– Groomers are out there to help you have a better riding experience and always have the right of way. – Please move off the trail when groomers are approaching and allow them to safely pass. – If you approach a groomer from behind, kindly wait for the operator to signal you to pass. – Grooming can take place at any time during the day or night, so stay alert. – Always ride on the right side of the trail. – Ride safe and ride sober.

Frosty and crunchy at 4 degrees on friday morning in Frederic, I saw the groomer heading out on 47 trail by the high school and 2 sleds right at that corner too. Already been several sleds in this morning and I made an early trip to the Sled Shed to get me some carbides for my ski doo. Those carbides have been on back order all season and I got the last set of 6 inch from Sled Shed. I wanted to make sure I get to ride again. I am happy to say that several riders told me that all trails they were on were well groomed. That is good to hear. The OSSA group were in here yesterday afternoon and they are staying up in Gaylord this year and at least we have great snow this year. Thanks Gary Hines for stopping in with everyone. Already sold the 4 pair of Gauntlets that I had this morning. My frederic-mi.com site is messed up again and Rebecca is on that. I was bummed to see the guys that were winter camping in my back lot left last night. I thought they were staying thru the weekend. Thanks for checking in. Pete
FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> Its a cloudy 44 degrees out with lots of mud everywhere. Snow has been on meltdown mode and there is still ice and mush around but I think it really is done now. If we do manage to get a storm it will only be good for the first few on it. I was out by Bear Lake yesterday and took a pic of the groomer setting there in the mud. Other pics are just outside of Sledheads here. Thank you to everyone that stopped by here this winter. That was round 29 so next season will be 30 winters with many of them only so so winters. Still fun, just some times more fun than others. Thanks for checking in. WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> We gained a bunch of new followers here at MSC, so for those who are new here, welcome! We do more than just track storms. With our degreed meteorologists on staff, we also have our own in-house forecasts releasing every day, 365 days a year. Unfortunately, for our warm-weather enjoyers up north, this forecast is not for you. Snow is likely today, March 7th, 2026 on the backside of the low pressure system moving through, while parts of southern Michigan reach the mid-60s today. Most of the snow will fall along the spine of the western Upper Peninsula, where 2-5" of fresh snow is possible in the cornflower blue coloring. 1-3" of snow also possible in nearby Baraga and western Marquette county. A trace to 1" is possible for all areas in white, but most of these areas won't see more than a couple flurries mixed in with light freezing drizzle. Snow should be done by 10 pm EST across the Upper Peninsula. The rest of the state will be dealing with temperatures in the 40s to 60s with showers and thunderstorms, clearing by late evening. This will set the stage for a mostly sunny Sunday ahead.
