SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 3/23
Just a PSA- saw a few rumors about gates being closed. Our gates ARE NOT closed. We have one gate that was blown halfway closed on trail 8 at 20th street. It most definitely is not locked. Word is that there are ruts close to where the ski trail crosses trail 8 between 20th street and 5 mile where an authorized vehicle was out doing a necessary survey. We did not get that much snow here, barely an inch, followed by freezing rain. Definitely poor riding conditions. If you do plan to ride for some reason, feel free to simply push the gate open and beware of the ruts on trail 8 as we are not running groomers due to current conditions. You can always message us if you have questions about our trails. It’s way better to get your info straight from the source. We definitely don’t want false info being shared. Thanks!

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 1/21/26 Good morning! Bryan and his son Logan hit the city trails last night and also 49 down to 7 mile and they turned out great! The little streams behind Kewadin Casino are still flowing (see the video in the comments) even with all of the cold, but our bridges have made a huge difference in there! There is one spot along the Kewadin trail that is soft and we keep filling it in as best we can. Likely a nonissue for the weight of a sled, but worth mentioning. Thank you Bryan and Logan!!❄️❄️❄️ #soo #soo0121b#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – 3/23
WOW! L👀K at this!
What a crazy weather pattern we have had here in the Keweenaw over the last few days! After some rain, sleet and heavy winds we ended up with a good amount of fresh snowfall. Keweenaw County recorded TEN inches yesterday! We do not yet have official amounts from today, but I’m sure we are approaching that 300 inch mark for the season! Houghton County recorded 4 inches yesterday. It seems areas further south received more rain/sleet from this storm.
The views are always better when the trees are snow covered! Absolutely beautiful photos from Brent Mason!
Brent arrived in the Keweenaw and checked into the AmericInn Calumet and immediately headed out to ride! Brent said, “Trail 17/3 from Calumet is is BEAUTFUL 😍! The trail going up to Brockway Mountain was deep and awesome snow! There’s a lot of snow up on top of Brockway Mountain now too! It was very foggy up there so couldn’t really see much though.”
For those calling, texting and messaging asking whether it’s worth it or not to come up for one last ride for the season…. we can’t make that decision for you – BUT we can tell you that all reports coming in from riders would say – YES!
Groomer operators will be out as soon as conditions allow. This is a great time to download the Groomer Tracker app and subscribe to the Keweenaw Snowmobile Club trail system. By doing so you you will have access to real time grooming updates.
There have not been any hazards reported on the trails north of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge by other riders, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some out there. Please ride with caution as always! This is late season riding!
