Yee Hah !!! Its finally here……..The official start of the 2022-23 snowmobile riding season. To bad as to many times in the past that we do not have any snow to speak of. The picture below I took with the camera out the front window of Sledheads this morning. Just a slight amount of snow blowing around. So many times in the past 15 to 20 years we only seem to have about 4 to 5 decent weeks of riding around our area. Just one time I would love to see 16 weeks of riding. This will make my 25th year at Sledheads. Boy time flies when your having fun.
So the wait is on. How long will it be till we get rideable snow. Most of the time in past years snow gets to be more rideable north and west of Frederic and the U.P. definetley had a banner year last season. As in past years I am in no big hurry to be open at the shop until the snow gets here. I am just feeling the way thru how many people are around and there wont be until we have snow. My phone from the shop rings to my cell phone so I am always answering calls. I wish I had more exciting news. Now that the riding season is here I will update every few days or so until we get real snow. I am still laying low at home while recovering from my most recent knee surgery ( its hell getting old)….. We need some heavy duty snow chants going out there. MO MO NAH CHEE CHEE NAH! FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> Had a great 160 mile ride yesterday. Started out riding to Frederic from home and then to Starvation Lake, Alba, Jordan Valley Trail, D & K formally Larrys in Elmira, up the Chandler HIlls trail until I lost the trail right at dark, then a little ditch banging as after i lost the trail I started south and east as I knew I would hit the highway. Came out by Vanderbilt and theh hit the 7 trail back to Gaylord, Waters and Frederic…..Perfect day of riding. Met up with Big John and Speed Bump for Spike burgers about 9 last night.I might go again this afternoon as I am thinking about a burger at Talleys. Supposed to get cold this weekend. Rode to Lovells last night and then home, left home this morning and rode towards Starvation Lake and then down to Frederic, conditions on trails nice and fluffy and smooth. Happy to say that trail 7 south out of Frederic along with trails 47, 679 and 76 all very nice. I rode 26 miles back here to Frederic and came into sledheads to warm up and am heading back out. Its 16 degrees at almost 1 in the afternoon. Pics are from last night and this morning. Heading back out. Closed again and gone riding. Thanks for checking in. Pete #gaylord #snowphotos

Rode to Lovells last night and then home, left home this morning and rode towards Starvation Lake and then down to Frederic, conditions on trails nice and fluffy an… WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Cold temperatures and continued brisk winds tonight will result in bitter cold wind chills of -10°F to -24°F across northern Michigan this morning. Be sure to take the proper precautions if spending time outdoors! Conditions improve this afternoon.
Good chances for snow showers will continue this week. After the cold today, temperatures rebound a bit Wednesday, but that will not last.
