KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Snowmobile Club – 12/23
Happy Blizzard Friday! The snow and wind have kicked into high gear within our trail system. Below is a wrap up of conditions:
Trail 3 from Toivola to Copper Harbor, Trail 17 from Hancock to Calumet, Trail 134, High Rock Spur (see below) and Trail 132 have all groomed. There are small water spots on all trails so ride with caution! ⚠️
High Rock Spur is Caution Taped Off, there are many water spots and areas that need a bit more attention, planning to get it fully opened next week. If you choose to ride, please use an abundance of caution in this area! ⚠️
Logging is complete on Trail 132, but continues on the shared portion of Trail 3. As mentioned before, mind the speed limit and yield to any logging traffic!
Trail 124 and Trail 133 will likely be opened Tuesday December 27th.
Finally some great news, the Trail 122 reroute has been approved! However, Trail 122 will be closed until logging is complete mid to late January. More updates to come!
Stay safe out there if riding during the storm, the wind and snow have created whiteout conditions and drifts across almost our entire system.
Grooming is on pause until the storm passes, safety of our team is number 1.

29 degrees this morning with just a light snow floatin around. I picked up about 4" or so of snow last night on my deck. I am not a happy camper this morning! "They" were calling for a "BLIZZARD" to start last night and all we got was a lousy 4"? It was`nt even windy. Just a normal winter night in Da Yoop! I think these weather guessers are all turning into snowflakes ( pun intended ). "They" are calling for a couple feet in the next couple of days tho…..I`ll just wait an see before I get myself all excited again and lose sleep.
As far as grooming goes…..we are in a wait an see pattern also. Just not enough snow on the ground to get the machines out yet. We would do more damage than good. Believe me, we are more than ready to get going, but with all the water and swamps we have to deal with we need more snow and colder weather. I`ll give ya`s another report tomorrow morning after I see if we get the 4-8" "they" are calling for for today.
LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Groomer Chris
