Munising Area Trail Report – 12/30
MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails >> 12/30 Groomer operators were checking traffic levels and we had feedback from some drift busters and we will be looking into conditions tomorrow before we pull the trigger on grooming. Conditions are getting more favorable, but the snow isn’t settling fast enough with sleds avoiding the drifts and knocking the air out of them. At 16 thousand pounds, the groomer doesn’t float enough in soft deep snow and we dont have a second machine to self rescue. So bear with us as we constantly monitor and discuss amongst our operators on the earliest optimum time to safely hit the trail. The exception will be in the northwest wind snowbelts where up to 4” of dry fluffy snow is possible. MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails >> We are all cleaning out after all of this snow. Sounds like great snow coverage from end to end. That’s the good part! The bad part is we have so many wind prone areas with heavy drifting, that we need to let it settle for a day and get some sleds over it before we send out the groomer. It is the downfall of being a one groomer club. We don’t have the availability of running tandem to quickly recover from a storm like this. But…. This is the perfect time for all of the “adventurous” riders to break trail in GREAT SNOW!!! Just beware of fallen trees. Carry a saw and report back to us if there are any big ones down that need serious attention. We will report back as soon as we get back out!
