Lake Gogebic Trail Report – 02/11

LAKE GOGEBIC AREA UPDATE via Bergland Bay Bar – 2/11

Happy Tuesday! High of 28, low of 17, currently 23 with light snowfall. It’s cloudy but calling for sun this afternoon.
Stay safe, ride on the right and come see us!

2-11-2020, 11:30 AM eastern:
All reports from yesterday were good to excellent. The trails are very hard underneath and “sugary” on top. There was a stretch on trail 3 between watersmeet and Bruce crossing that was a little rough yesterday. Other then that, everything was good. The groomers were out working their butts off again last night. We got about an inch of fresh snow last night which can only help. We have more snow and cold for the next few days with warmer temps toward the last week of the month. That’s if you believe the weatherman. Stay safe, stay right, stay warm, and stay in the Gogebic area. Come see us.

Grand Marais Trail Report – 02/11

GRAND MARAIS UPDATE via Grand Marais Sno-Trails Assoc. – 2/11

From Michael-Back in at 7. South trail was in really good shape. Didn’t take much to get it flattened out.

From Phil-Monday did 8 East, it was pretty choppy. It did smooth out nice, however it’s all sugar snow so expect bumps after some traffic.I did a shortened run, only went to the pine stump trailhead parking lot, due to getting a late start.Reason: I ran the late run Sunday and just about to finish in the early daylight hours Monday AM…while on the trail near the groomer barn… I hit the frozen embankment of dirt and ice and crinkled the left side of the front blade. So in order to get 3 machines back out on the trails for Monday night…Jack gave up his day off, Michael and myself gave up rest. So with some torch cutting, hammering, fabricating and welding (mostly by Jack! with supervision by Elmer) the machine was ready for grooming by 5pm.I only bring this up because it is a joy to work with like-minded, determined, dedicated Co-workers. The sno-trails crew takes a lot of pride in what they do, and that is to get smooth and safe trails. Just saying
