Grand Marais Trail Report – 03/01

GRAND MARAIS UPDATE via Grand Marais Sno-Trails Assoc. – 3/1

From Caleb-Hurricane was beautiful, nice and flat even with traffic. Needed very little. Triple eights had bad corners banked high, that was tricky but the banks are down now. From 77 into Adams trail it was the worst, but snow conditions made it easy to cut and push snow into moguls. Lots and lots of traffic, was surprised the trails were not in worse shape..

From Phil-Saturday did 8 East: the conditions from Grand Marais to the pine stump parking parking lot. Well let’s say… The good is… It’s flat. But the bad… It’s powder/sugar snow… Expect bumps to appear real soon. However across the parking lot 8 East turned out nice!…. Flat, smooth and fast with nice snow. All set for Sunday…

From Chad-South run was in horrible shape..443..88..but with good snow they groomed out very well

Sidnaw / Bruce Crossing Trail Report – 03/01

We have some brown spots, wet areas and icy corners showing up in various places on the trails. Use CAUTION when riding!

We are grooming every evening if the conditions allow. It doesn’t look like we will be able to groom tonight, Sunday March 1st, due to temperatures. We will get back at is as soon as conditions allow.

Please DO NOT climb the "Military Hill" from the highway, US 45, to the fence, we have ongoing erosion issues there and the hill climbers are adding to the problem. YOU COULD CAUSE THIS MAJOR TRAIL TO BE CLOSED IF YOU CONTINUE!

Watch for the groomers, they take up most of the trail and have the right of way!

Please pull over and DIM your lights for them, they have a long night out there.

Remember, you can get off the trail, the groomer can not.

Please ride on right side of the trail, STOP at the stop signs and treat YIELD signs appropriately.

Trail #3 North to Rockland is FAIR on the South end and FAIR on the North end.

Trail #8 from Ewen to trail #3 North is FAIR.
