No Grooming Tonight Thursday January 25th due to temperatures and snow condition. We will evaluate things again tomorrow evening. We need cold and snow!

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Snowmobile Club – 01/25
The difficult decision was made last night (Wednesday Jan 24th) to turn around machines and discontinue grooming operations for the evening. We were doing more damage than good, the weather is not in our favor and the snow conditions have deteriorated. We will share another update this evening when we will again try to groom and assess the situation. We want to be out there as much as you want to ride, but we cannot control Mother Nature.

Joe Tarvis and Chad Teague shared reviews of their rides yesterday, (Wednesday 1/24/24)
Each riding in a different direction.
Joe started out this morning riding north from Calumet on trail 3 and shared some comments saying,
“Freshly groomed trail from Calumet to Brockway. One 5 mile section, just before Brockway was bumpy. Brockway Drive(Trail 3) was groomed after that section. I could see the groomer went towards Gay on 124. I’ll head through Copper Harbor, downtown, towards Lac La Belle from here.
Won’t be much of a sunrise, pretty cloudy”
Joe finished out his day of riding and provided a recap – “Here’s my last update from Brockway – from
Copper Harbor, towards High Rock was great. Went to Lac La Belle & said “hi” to Frosty. Left a little while ago on 132 towards Phoenix. Lac la belle to Phoenix is the bomb. All great trails, couple stretches from Calumet to my location, has a couple 5 mile stretches of whoopdies! It’s been a blast! Phoenix to Calumet was still holding up good on my way back. Crossed paths with light to medium amount of shedders heading north on my way back. The temperature might be actually helping by keeping the trails not so rigid. I’m done for the day. Have fun!”
Chad rode the opposite direction and said, “ Made it from Toivola to Ontonagon. Then down and over to White Pine, Lake of the Clouds, now to navigate the best path home. I’d say it was a successful day all in all. Trails were remarkably well today over this way. Pray for cold!
Not a ton of pics today but did have a nice stop at Konteka Black Bear Resort White Pine, Michigan and got gas. Few other groups of sleds out. About 1 maybe 2 more days and things will be on hold for sure without more snow.”

I meant to do a video yesterday after the Storm but I spent most of the day moving snow. So we have some trees down again and hope to have them taken care of today and get back to grooming tonight. It was pretty cool meeting Todd while I was doing a trail report today.
