Paradise Area Trail Report – 01/03

3 degrees this morning with a clear sky. It snowed on and off all day yesterday, sometimes really hard. I`d say we picked up a solid 6 inches. Pretty fluffy stuff but I love it! We are ready to kick `er into gear so here we go…….
Groomer Mike C. ran the Pine Stump trail # 8 yesterday and called it good with just a few thin spots. I`m heading out the door shortly to run trail #45 to the Falls again. Hopefully I can get `er opened up! Not sure who`s available today to run any other trail, da boss will get on the phone to check.
I`m really thinking by the end of this week I`ll be ready to throw up the green flag!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So be ready, start making your reservations.

TROUT LAKE - EASTERN U.P. UPDATE via The Rail House-Trout Lake MI >> Welp... we had to give it a shot but only made it a few miles before we turned around and headed back in. The wind makes it hard to tell exactly how much snow we have gotten in the last 24hrs but its pretty significant. Roads are NOT passable. Please don't try to go out until the county trucks are able to do a pass or 2. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> 6:14 AM EST Radar Update
Widespread snow is beginning to taper off from west to east. Very heavy snow will continue across the central and east into the afternoon. Widespread wind gusts 35-45 mph are common this morning, with gusts 50-60 mph closer to Lake Superior contributing to near zero visibilities, and blowing and drifting snow.
In Marquette and Alger counties, M-28 between US-41 and M-94 is closed. Unless absolutely necessary, travel is strongly discouraged this morning. Stay safe! #miweather #munising #newberry

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> A high impact winter storm is set to impact the U.P. tonight through tomorrow. Blizzard conditions are expected to develop, resulting in areas near zero visibility, especially near Lake Superior where gusts upwards of 60 mph are likely.
Important update: Trends in storm track have resulted in a southeast shift of the heaviest snowfall axis. Areas of 1 to 2 feet will be common from the high terrain of the central UP eastward along and north of M-28.
Strong northerly winds may result in downed trees and power outages. Please take extreme caution if you must travel over the next 24 hours. Stay safe! Check in on your neighbors!
