TRAIL REPORT March 12, 2022
GREAT LATE SEASON RIDING CONTINUES!
Same as yesterday except 4 to 6 inches of new snow and Trail 8 was groomed (chopped down) for the 7 miles North of Shingleton. Photo Trail 8 at the Trail 8 East Island turn-around. The Big Deere back to workin’.

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails – 3/12
Cold temps and a dusting of snow helped Steve put down a heck of a ribbon last night. New snow is desperately needed to solidify the grainy ice in the trail, but unfortunately, that isn’t in the forecast. Warm weather is about to start. We are going to start holding back the groomer after tonight until we have the correct conditions. It may be the last weekend we groom. It may not. We will keep everyone informed as we make our plans for the day. Ride right and ride safe.

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Mixed precipitation, mainly of rain and snow, will spread west to east across the UP tonight into tomorrow morning. Pockets of freezing rain could also mix in at onset and lead to a light glaze of ice on roadways for the Tuesday morning commute. Heavy lake effect snow will then be reinvigorated with a secondary cold front Tuesday night into Wednesday morning across the N and NW wind snow belts. The next system brings a mix of rain and snow on Tuesday before temperatures turn sharply colder Tuesday night, followed by a round of potentially heavy lake effect snow in the north wind snow belts on Wednesday. MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails >> We were able to get out for a short while last night. Trail is groomed from 417 to Rumley. Due to operator constraints, we were only able to make the partial run. It is an unfortunate reality we face as a volunteer organization. Between work and family obligations, we sometimes have small gaps in the schedule. Now that we have the trail set, we will be training in a couple more operators to help fill those gaps. A couple of our out of state operators will be back in the seat also! We are like every other club that does grooming. We are always looking for operators. If you have contacted us before and we didn’t get back to you, please feel free to reach out again. We didn’t forget about you. We just didnt have an opportunity to get you into training before the season ended. If anyone is interested in grooming, please send us a message! We will see what we can do to get you up in the seat!
Our repairs seem to have been successful and the snow is falling again! It does look like we have a small warm up coming soon, but it doesn’t look like it will stick around for any time. Sounds like results varied last night with a couple spots needing multiple passes to get back into rideable shape. It will definitely take a couple grooms with the hard base and fresh snow to get everything back to flat again. Ride right and ride safe! #munising #snowphotos
