Gaylord Area Trail Report – 01/31

Gaylord Bureau –

January 30, 2025

10:50 AM

Recent snowfall has upgraded our trails to good condition! While there may still be some thin patches, our groomers have been working hard to keep the trails in good shape. We’re expecting a brief warm-up during the day today but it will quickly cool back down overnight.

As always, please be aware of your surroundings and ride safely. Enjoy the trails!

Check out this live feed to see trail #7, just north of Gaylord.

A few things to remember about our groomers and trails:

– Groomers are out there to help you have a better riding experience and always have the right of way.
– Please move off the trail when groomers are approaching and allow them to safely pass.
– If you approach a groomer from behind, kindly wait for the operator to signal you to pass.
– Grooming can take place at any time during the day or night, so stay alert.
– Always ride on the right side of the trail.
– Ride safe and ride sober.

Sledheads of Frederic – 01/31

Its 10:30 on a sunny 27 degree friday morning in downtown Frederic. I got here just after nine and there were about 15 or so sleds lined up at the swamp heading out for a pretty large group ride. Yesterday it was up to 41 and gave us more melting and settling than I would like to see but things have held up pretty well. Not sure what today is going to do. Wednesday things were so perfect and thursday was good too. Next system snow isnt till next wednesday. Both days inn in grayling and Ramada only had 2 trailers each at them. So same old blah, blah, blah. You have to take what we get and make the best of it. Yesterday a couple brought in a new saddle bag off of a 2025 ski doo and it did have a name in it. I posted it on my Sledheads facebook page and in 20 minutes he came walking in the door. Jeff Bartell was the guy and he would love to talk to the couple that turned it in so if they read this please call me and I will put you in touch with him. Also when Jeff came in with his group of guys I told him he had to identify the odd thing that was in the bag. His whole crew laughed as they knew what it was and there is a pic below of him holding it. He was very happy to get it back.Thats about it for today so lets hope we hold the snow we have. Thanks for checking in. Pete

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via Midwest Weather >> ~(Updated) Snowfall Forecast Sunrise Sunday-Sunrise Tuesday~
A major winter storm is expected to bring significant snowfall to portions of the region. Most of the accumulating snow will be along and north of I-80. No matter how much snow will fall, there will be strong northwest winds that will create blowing and drifting snow. Travel north of I-80 will be near impossible at times. Some road closures are possible along and north of I-90 given greater accumulation and more persistent blizzard-like conditions. Heaviest snowfall totals through sunrise Tuesday (there will be more after) will be along Lake Superior. Snowfall rates could exceed 2" an hour at times due to lake enhancement. Expect over a foot in most areas along the lakeshore before dropping as you get closer to the WI border. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskey~OUTDATED~
