KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Western u.p. Trail Reports – 3/26

Started the day in Toivola with Harley Eakin and the Snowman and ran up to Ontonagon for lunch. Trail 12 was fine until we got to Greenland. From Pat’s Motorsports and a good 1/4 mile past was real thin. Lots of patches of no snow. From there into Ontonagon was awesome. Heading back down 137 was in very good shape yet.

However when you make a left on to trail 13 there’s one hill coming into Rockland that is nothing but mud. All in all it was a great late season ride.

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – 3/26

Bluebird day in the Keweenaw! Riders are still out getting their last ride of the season in !
Tom Murrin & Linda Dwyer spent the day riding north yesterday and today headed south.
Tom shared this video taken on their way to The Mosquito Inn for lunch and said, “Bluebird Sunday in the Kee! Had to ride a little bare asphalt and mud sections on Hancock side from M&M Arctic Cat dealership up the hill that section is still passable but not great. Actual trails not running through towns are great!”
Thanks for sharing Tom
& Linda!

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Another quickly-moving Clipper will bring a round of widespread, light snow beginning this evening, followed by lingering lake effect snow across the NW wind snow belts for Tuesday. Totals of an inch or less are expected for most of the UP, but where lake effect snow occurs, up to 2-5in of snow is possible tonight through Tuesday evening. Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> Lake effect snow continues today, stops, then resumes in intensity overnight into Tuesday, January 26th and 27th, 2026.
Discussion
Our west winds kick up to the 30-40 mph range later tonight. Prior to that happening, a northwest wind will batter some lake effect areas with an additional 1-3" this afternoon, with pockets of 4"+ possible. As we move into Tuesday, a widespread blanket of 2-5", with pockets of 4-8" will overtake the Lake Michigan shoreline, eastern UP, and Keweenaw Peninsula. Temperature difference between water and air, plus adequate lift will fuel lake effect all the way through Wednesday morning. Additionally, we have a clipper moving through on Tuesday that will bring isolated pockets of 1-3" to the east side. Most locations should still be beneath an inch, however, too many variables are in play to not mention it.
Travel will be impacted along and west of US-131, with minor travel impacts all the way over to the US-127 corridor (I-75 north of Grayling). The clipper will be swinging through with the initial push of gusty winds after midnight tonight through 10 am Tuesday morning. Again, this will be for totals starting at noon today, and lasting through 8 am EST Wednesday, with most of the snow falling throughout the entire day Tuesday. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskeyLake effect snow continues today, stops, then resumes in intensity overnight into Tuesday, January 26th and 27th, 2026.

Munising Area Trail Report – 03/27

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails – 03/26

Well folks, after talking it over, I am sad to say our season has ended. We will not be grooming any more this season. With the warm Temps, and water accumulating in the low areas, we fear we would do more damage than good. If we leave it alone, it is still rideable, if we were to groom, we would break through and make a mess of it.

I would like to send out a huge thank you to everyone that has helped out this year to make our section of trail 8 and the Sawyer spur as safe and smooth as possible. There is not enough thanks that we can give to everyone that helps out, especially the groomer operators. They spend countless hours away from thier family, to make the trail smooth for everyone to enjoy. Typically 10- 12 hours every time they groom. That’s a lot to expect from someone volunteering their time. Yes, I said, volunteering. No one gets paid to do this.

I also would like to thank everyone that gave us a goodie bag this season. Every goddie bag put a smile on our faces when we received them, so thank you for those. They really do mean more to us than you would imagine. We all here at Trenary Northern Trails, hope you all had a safe, enjoyable time riding this winter. We hope to see you all again next winter for more miles and smiles. Ride right, be safe, and see you next winter.
