Hey Friends!!
Things are looking up!! It’s been below freezing for over a week now, and we’re getting an inch or two a day on the ground with what looks like a big storm on the way!!
Haven’t heard much from the groomers, but I’ve been told that they’ve been busting their butts working on the swamps!! Without that heavy blanket of snow we usually have this time of year, the swamps have a way better chance of freezing up fast!!
We can’t wait to see you!! Book your rooms now before they fill up at the Magnuson Grand Lakefront, Paradise!!

Happy New Year everyone! It is gettin happier too. It is currently 21 degrees and snowing here at my place. Its been cold the last few days so the ground is freezing up nice too. We got about 3" of snow yesterday and about another inch last night. I see the "weather guessers" are calling for a "big storm" coming in next week, soooooo……alls good. We just need to be patient for one more week.
Keep checking back and I`ll keep ya`ll informed.

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Cold weather continues through Tuesday with highs only in the single digits and teens. Dangerously cold wind chills this morning and again tonight into Monday morning are expected, Cold Weather Advisories are in effect. 3 degrees this morning under a partly sunny sky. It was minus 6 when I went to bed last night at 10! No new snow last night but we did pick up 3-4" the night before. Just a quick report to keep ya`ll informed before I head out the door to go grooming myself. Here`s the scoop from yesterdays runs.....
Groomer Keith hit the Stump trails and called them good.
Groomer Patrick did the Falls trail and called that one good too.
Groomer Dave ran the South trail #8 and said the same, even the swamp is good to go!
Here`s a STRONG suggestion to the boondockers. Both Patrick and Dave told me they saw a lot of tracks off trail on the Falls trail and in the swamp. This is a VERY BAD idea as both trails still have a lot of water and soft spots where you could sink up to your arm pits. It is NOT SAFE to ride off trail in there where the trail is not packed in. If you get buried in there we cannot help cause we will not risk getting a groomer stuck!!! It is a very expensive towing bill too if you can find someone to help. Another tip, I am finding it very frustrating with some riders not yielding to the groomers. Its a long day for us to begin with and some riders are not getting to the side when they see us coming or blasting by us from behind. PLEASE just get over and let us by or wait for us to stop and let ya by from behind....PLEASE. Rant done
We plan on runnin the entire system today/tonight.
COME ON UP.....our trails are now in beautiful shape!!!!!!!!!!! A big plus is it looks like this cold will stick around for awhile too!!!!!!!!!!!!

10:08 Lot and Lots of time to ponder things out here, and we see things out here sooner, and better from our picture windows and Lazy Boys, I was wondering how many of you come into corners at a Very respectful safety minded speed only to find a series of Rupp eating craters that had you in an entirely different spot half way around and coming out of that corner?
In and outta Windy Corners, I've done better, not the snows fault, kept loosing my prime, most, very nice, its a personal goal thing.
Intell has informed me we've had help grooming a chunk of 9 tonight, I'll keep you posted 😉

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Extremely cold temperatures and wind chills continue today into Saturday morning while lake effect snow continues over the NW wind snowbelts. Frostbite can occur in less than 10 minutes on exposed skin in this weather. In addition, visibilities could tank to 1/2 mile or less in the NW wind lake effect, with near-blizzard conditions still possible in the Keweenaw. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea

These conditions will continue at least thru the early afternoon hours today. We will be sending out groomers today during daylight hours on the south route and north route, staying away from the lakeshore. We are hoping to groom the other two routes as soon as possible. #grandmarais #newberry

NEGATIVE 2 degrees this morning and snowing. We picked up around 6" of snow yesterday and another 6 or so last night! It`s down right winter out der! All good news for yesterdays happenings so lets rock-n-roll.....
Groomer Mike C. took off in the morning and headed into da south swamp with just a machine. I took off with a machine and drag and headed south also but skipped the swamp section. Before I got done with the South trail #8, Mike radioed me and said hit the swamp with the drag on my way back. He got it packed in pretty good and it turned out good with the drag. It is only one lane for now but we`ll fix that tomorrow. THE GATES ARE NOW OPEN!!!!
After that Groomer Mike C. headed out on the Falls trail #45 with just the machine and Groomer Glenn pulling a drag following him. They got that trail packed in and groomed, it turned out great!!! Groomer Mike C. put in 12 hrs. in a machine yesterday filling and packing in water holes! Great job!!!
Today we are running the Pine Stump trails #8 & #9 and the Point trails #452 & #453. Not sure what we are gonna do with the other machine.
So......total green flag for our entire trail system!!!! COME ON UP and enjoy our hard work!!!!!!
