Cadillac Area Trail Report – 01/13

CADILLAC AREA UPDATE via Coyote Crossing Resort – 01/13

TRAIL BASE: 1-3″
TRAIL CONDITIONS: Good
NEW SNOW LAST 24 HR: 8-12″

Hello Sledders!

Trails were rapidly improving last night as we rode a few miles! Hopefully groomer active will start later today or tomorrow. Snow coverage in our whole Cadillac trail system should be adequate now! Nice moisture to this snow really should pack in well. Forecast is calling for additional inches throughout the day.

M-55 is snow covered, but has been plowed.

We’re excited to kick off the season! Gonna keep this short, as I have to get back to plowing!! Working on clearing out around Coyote now.

Head out and enjoy this snow, and support the local businesses!

THINK SNOW!

– Pete

CADILLAC AREA UPDATE via Cadillac Winter Promotions >> We have decided to halt grooming operations until Sunday due to these cold temps. Our operators safety is #1. A lot of our trails have no cell service and if a tractor goes down it would be bad for our volunteers. The trails are in very good shape right now still. See you out there Sunday. #cadillac ... Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Dangerous wind chills will be widespread today, especially this morning. Wind chills in the 20s below zero; some areas could feel as cold as -30F. This will be dangerous, as frostbite can develop in as little as 30 minutes on exposed skin. Limit time outdoors and dress in layers. Keep a winter weather survival kit in your vehicle in case you get stranded.
Gusty northwest winds plus continued powdery lake effect snow will lead to significant reductions in visibility with whiteouts at times through this afternoon, especially in open areas where snow can easily blow around. Dangerous travel conditions are expected, and wind chills well below zero will be even more problematic if you end up stranded on the road. #miweather #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskeyDangerous wind chills will be widespread today, especially this morning.
