Gaylord Area Trail Report – 02/15
Gaylord Bureau –
February 14, 2024 – 12:04 p.m.
Temperatures have been warmer than usual this month, which has melted most of our snow. Trails are unrideable at this time and there is little snow expected in the extended forecast. We’ll keep you posted on any changes with the weather. Check back for updates and trail conditions.
Please remember that groomers have the right of way and kindly move off the trail so they can safely proceed. If you approach a groomer from behind, the operator will signal when it’s safe for you to pass. Groomers are here to make your ride more enjoyable so please be courteous!

Suprise, A little snow fell. Its about 9 a.m. thursday morning and about 2 inches of snow has fallen in Grayling and Frederic so far. Schools are closed but I cant believe they closed for what has happened so far. I have talked to several people this morning as I left town yesterday. Here are my thoughts. We need a heck of alot of snow to be able to ride. Yesterday as I was walking around the building I could see rock hard frozen sled tracks from 2 sleds that must have rode thru last week during the mud bog. There tracks stood out big as day. Thats what the ground is like underneath. I am going to stick with my feeling that we need alot more of system snow than lake effect snow. I know we have to start somewhere with new snow. The good part is its supposed to stay cold. Pics below are from my cameras this morning. Thanks for checking in. Pete

FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> Had a great 160 mile ride yesterday. Started out riding to Frederic from home and then to Starvation Lake, Alba, Jordan Valley Trail, D & K formally Larrys in Elmira, up the Chandler HIlls trail until I lost the trail right at dark, then a little ditch banging as after i lost the trail I started south and east as I knew I would hit the highway. Came out by Vanderbilt and theh hit the 7 trail back to Gaylord, Waters and Frederic…..Perfect day of riding. Met up with Big John and Speed Bump for Spike burgers about 9 last night.I might go again this afternoon as I am thinking about a burger at Talleys. Supposed to get cold this weekend. Rode to Lovells last night and then home, left home this morning and rode towards Starvation Lake and then down to Frederic, conditions on trails nice and fluffy and smooth. Happy to say that trail 7 south out of Frederic along with trails 47, 679 and 76 all very nice. I rode 26 miles back here to Frederic and came into sledheads to warm up and am heading back out. Its 16 degrees at almost 1 in the afternoon. Pics are from last night and this morning. Heading back out. Closed again and gone riding. Thanks for checking in. Pete #gaylord #snowphotos
