It sure doesn’t look like Feb 23. The ground froze up again overnight but now its just rock hard frozen mud. Snow piles continue to melt down and I would guess the side bys will be out and about this weekend. It seems so strange not having any snow out there. On the bright side I have had a couple of good trips when I am usually here in Sledheads, I think I might have to go on another one just to keep myself entertained. I did wake up this morning thinking about the mountain man hill climb in Valdez Alaska, that happens in the middle of April and it is a great event to attend and watch. Even the snow in the black hills is light this season as thats another place that I like to ride. If you come by and my truck is here stop in and make sure I am awake. Thanks for checking in. Thankfully I had not heard of any snowmobile deaths this season until yesterday where someone went thru the ice up in the u.p. STAY OFF LAKES I have never seen a winter with ice the way it has been. FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> Had a great 160 mile ride yesterday. Started out riding to Frederic from home and then to Starvation Lake, Alba, Jordan Valley Trail, D & K formally Larrys in Elmira, up the Chandler HIlls trail until I lost the trail right at dark, then a little ditch banging as after i lost the trail I started south and east as I knew I would hit the highway. Came out by Vanderbilt and theh hit the 7 trail back to Gaylord, Waters and Frederic…..Perfect day of riding. Met up with Big John and Speed Bump for Spike burgers about 9 last night.I might go again this afternoon as I am thinking about a burger at Talleys. Supposed to get cold this weekend. FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> Conditions are A plus times ten. Rode to Lovells last night and then home, left home this morning and rode towards Starvation Lake and then down to Frederic, conditions on trails nice and fluffy and smooth. Happy to say that trail 7 south out of Frederic along with trails 47, 679 and 76 all very nice. I rode 26 miles back here to Frederic and came into sledheads to warm up and am heading back out. Its 16 degrees at almost 1 in the afternoon. Pics are from last night and this morning. Heading back out. Closed again and gone riding. Thanks for checking in. Pete #gaylord #snowphotos

Rode to Lovells last night and then home, left home this morning and rode towards Starvation Lake and then down to Frederic, conditions on trails nice and fluffy an… WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Cold temperatures and continued brisk winds tonight will result in bitter cold wind chills of -10°F to -24°F across northern Michigan this morning. Be sure to take the proper precautions if spending time outdoors! Conditions improve this afternoon.
Good chances for snow showers will continue this week. After the cold today, temperatures rebound a bit Wednesday, but that will not last. Cold air starts to return on Thursday, and Friday looks to be perhaps the coldest day of the winter so far. #miweather #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskey
