Baldwin Area Trail Report – 01/26

BALDWIN AREA UPDATE via Trailriders Snowmobile Club >> 01/26

1/26 Update: Unfortunately, we don’t have a lot of grooming updates today. With yesterday’s warm up above freezing, we were unable to groom last night. Today the plan is to evaluate our system and determine if we can get at least some of our groomers rolling again today and tomorrow. Our equipment is ready to roll and our volunteer crew of operators are ready to go. For those out riding today, please share your feedback on conditions with pictures and locations if possible.

As posted last night, our open house was very successful! We appreciate everyone who was able to attend and to those that became members, thank you for contributing to our club. We hope to regularly see new members at our future events and meetings, as we are always looking for new faces and ideas. We especially appreciate all the work by our members and board throughout the day. There are so many dedicated volunteers working behind the scenes that made this event a great success! Also thanks to those who donated or provided food items and door prizes for our event. Paul H Jernberg, Chase Creek Smoke House, Fox Powersports Peacock, Hutson, Inc., Ebels General Store

Attached are some more pictures and videos of our open house event and the afternoon group ride through the north and west sections of our system (Ward Hills area – trails 3 &35 mainly). Thanks to big Al’s sled shed for guiding our group rides yesterday.

Here are the winners of the door prizes that are unclaimed: please reachout to us via Facebook messenger or email us trailriderssc@gmail.com to arrange pick up.

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

BALDWIN AREA UPDATE via Trailriders Snowmobile Club >> 12/31 Update: The rail trail from Baldwin to Reed City was groomed last night along with sections north and west of Baldwin (3, 30, 35, 340). The middle section South of Baldwin to Woodland Park area was also groomed (3,320, 324). Most areas turned out pretty well with some wet spots and thinner snow towards Reed City. Please ride right and ride safe. Enjoy the last day of 2025 and have a happy, safe, New Year’s celebration!
We will be meeting at the clubhouse at 9am tomorrow (Jan. 1st) and heading out to open trail 19 to Hart. We could use all the help we can get. We are planning on trailering sleds out to near Candy Cane Lane along trail 19 and working from there. Reach out if you can help. #baldwinarea #snowphotos

BALDWIN AREA UPDATE via Trailriders Snowmobile Club >> 12/30 Update: the middle trails, 3, 320, and 324 south of Baldwin to woodland park were groomed last night and will be again tonight. The north and rail are being groomed tonight by Dan and Chester with the 6195r (Hart tractor) to give it a shakedown due to all the track issues, before we send it over there on January 1st. Newaygo had a small section groomed today, but there were some trees too big for us to handle alone that were blocking the trail near the Newaygo Sports park. Think snow!❄️ #baldwinarea #snowpotos ... See MoreSee Less

Harbor Springs Area Trail Report – 01/26

HARBOR SPRINGS AREA UPDATE via Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club – 01/26

The trails were rode hard yesterday, there was roughly 150 sleds on Beach’s Up North Tavern’s vintage ride and tons of other groups out enjoying the snow.

With that being said the trails really took a beating. We only had one volunteer available to groom so unfortunately the railroad grade from Pellston to Mackinaw & the entire west side of our trail system will be in rough shape today.

Your best spots to be today will be from the Harbor Groomer barn east to Alanson & Pellston. Take a ride to Brutus Camp Deli for breakfast & get 10% off for riding your seld there or swing into Beachs in Pellston or the Jerk-N-Depot in Alanson for some lunch!

Ride safe!

HARBOR SPRINGS AREA UPDATE via Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club >> We had all three groomers out last night & they sure did have their work cut out for them. Unfortunately with the amount of trees down we were unable to get through the entire trail system. It took one opperator four hours to make it only 8 miles. The only areas that didn’t get groomed was Trail 704 Melody Lane & Gregory Road, 71/710 Cross Village Loop, & the 710 Spur from Big Pine to Warwick Road.
The trails are in good shape & it’s a great day to get out and ride. Please use caution in the non groomed areas as there are likely trees down and big drifts. We are hoping to have someone available tonight to groom the remaning sections.
⚠️🪵 There is still an active logging operation on Trail 71 from Brutus road to the Alanson Trail intersection.
⚠️🛑 There is an upcoming trail closure: Trail 7 (the railroad grade) will be closed from Trails End Road to Cadillac St in Mackinaw City starting Monday 1/5 for 3-5 days while soil testing is conducted. We will update everyone once that section re-opens. #harborsprings #petoskey #snowphotos

HARBOR SPRINGS AREA UPDATE via Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club >> Mother Nature made a fierce return! Across our area we got dumped on by freezing rain, followed by a rough 8-14” of snow and 40mph wind gusts for almost 24 hours.
We have reports of several trees down on our trail system and some major drifts. We have all three groomers going out tonight to get things cleaned up. Riding today is not advised unless you bring a chainsaw and take your time going over hills and around corners.
There is more snow on its way today & tomorrow! We will have another update for you once the groomers report back. #harborsprings #petoskey
