Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 01/03

It’s a cloudy and quiet morning here in Frederic at 35 degrees.

It was up to about 37 yesterday but I really don’t think we lost much snow as it was damp too.

A few sleds out and about but I haven’t seen any so far today. Trails look worn at crossing I passed this morning. The good news is most of northern Michigan is under a winter storm warning starting at 4 a.m. Wednesday morning…..I have to believe that it should be an o.k. weekend of riding this coming weekend.

Just trying to get things done around the shop here today. Pics below are of one of a big group that was in yesterday along with some riders getting their picture by my Welcome To Frederic sign on the trail across the street.

I am still waiting for someone to conquer the snow pile in the alley behind the shop. Who ever the first one is to do it needs to have a long track with big paddles and a bunch of friends with him too in case they get stuck between the 2 piles.

I think once a couple make it thru there it will be easier to do. Thanks for checking in. Pete — http://frederic-mi.com/cloudy-quiet/

Western U.P. Trail Report – Western U.P. Bureau – 01/03

Lake Gogebic Webcam

Lake Gogebic Webcam

We have a lake effect warning from 6p.m.this evening until noon on Thursday. The National Weather Service is calling for 8-15 inches of new snow, with 2-5 inland from Marenisco to Watersmeet. We will have to wait and see what this system brings.

The Gogebic Range Trail Authority reports:

I have no official report from the GRTA. Prior to this last week-end trails were in good condition, but with all the traffic I am guessing trails are poor to fair. As soon as I get an official report I will post it.

Lake Gogebic Area Groomer Report

All trails have been groomed. Trail 8 west continues to have wet areas. Attempts are being made to address this problem. Trails are in fair condition.

*If you’d like additional information about our area please contact The Lake Gogebic Area Chamber of Commerce at 888.GOGEBIC or www.lakegogebicarea.com. You can also email us at info@lakegogebicarea.com. Hope we see you soon – for those of you already up here have a safe ride!

U.P. Thunder Riders of Watersmeet Groomers Report:

All trails are in good condition. The groomers will continue to run as conditions permit.
Use caution there will be some icy spots.

Please stay on trails, riding on unmarked trails can result is the clubs losing easement for the trail. So Please say on trails…..
