Paradise Area Trail Report – 12/19

PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders www.paradiseareanightriders.org >> 12/19

12/19/25

15 degrees this morning and snowing. We got just a light dusting last night. Yesterday was a night mare. I hit 43 degrees here and got about a 1/4 inch of rain. We lost quite a bit of snow.

Looking out my window I would say I have just less than a foot left. We were off to a good start! The big thing I think people don`t realize is that the snow melt has to go somewhere. Our trail system has a lot of low country and guess where the water goes….right…..back into the swamps! This water then gets warmed a bit because of the rotting vegetation and there you have it…..more darn water holes on the trails!!!! This is the main reason we can`t get going as early as some of the other surrounding clubs do.

As far as our plans go…..It looks like the weather is gonna cool back down to normal for the next few days. We are gonna let things freeze back up and then Sunday we are gonna send 2 machines w/o drags down the Falls trail #45 and see what we got. Trails #452 & #453 around the Point are ridable but thin in areas, they are not groomed yet, just packed. Trail #8 to da Stump is groomed but it is thin in spots too. Trail #8 south is just packed and the gates into the Federal Forest section are closed because of water. Thats about it for now. This thaw really hurt our plans.

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and stay cold
Groomer Chris

PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Town Hall Snowmobile Club Paradise MI >> 12/19

Went to bed when it was 40 degrees and drizzling- woke up to a winter wonderland!

I flew into Pellston yesterday evening- there was heavier rain all the way south of M28- Seems North of there got spared the brunt of it…

NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via TASA Tahquamenon Area Snowmobile Association >> Chad and I just had a discussion, and it occurred to us, we've heard no fat ladies singing, so.....
Chad, you have to answer them. Im busy.
Just have the drag spread out low and lean, nothing blade worthy yet, hauling hiny (9ish) keeps it cycling through pretty good, leavin, ribbons.
Mostly just out here looking for disasters before that lady shows up! 😉 keep you posted. #newberry #snowphotos

That's a bummer. A quick pan might have been the ticket for us diehards who can't face the reality of the end of the riding season. Great work overall this season! Through all the issues thrown at the team this year, you guys kicked it!

NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via TASA Tahquamenon Area Snowmobile Association >> 😭 Last Trip 😪
9:43PM Trail 9
Yuk! Second stop sign out, pretty ugly.
People were glad to see us from the git go, I get it!
Having to dig pretty deep with the blade in the corners followed by an aggressive drag, so heads up till we get back for any curbs I leave behind, still over 9ft wide a pass so you should be able to squeak through 😉
Othe than that, way cool sunset!
Not too much traffic, all pulled over 🥰
It's cleaning up very nice. I'll keep you posted.
11:18pm
Just finished Wolf Inn, North Store, Trails End Lodging, moved alot of snow down in the corners, lots, still digging deep.
Mostly ribbony, leveled off some intersections, enjoying my ride 😁
Just turned north, Pine Stump bound, keep you posted.
7:24am
Back down to the McMillan Leg.
After I left Windy Corners I never saw another sled, still haven't 😊 turning out pretty well, weird snow, thawed, froze, rinse, repeat it seems, kinda like artificial.
Anyway removed the ugly both sides, a few Corners could still use another lap, but they'll be fine. #newberry #snowphotos

NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via TASA Tahquamenon Area Snowmobile Association >> Trail 9 10:28PM
Just about to the Sceny turn, wasn't so bad till I got north of Windy Corners, gotta scrape pretty well with the blade, but I noticed a little defect while out checking the tires.
Shot pics to Chad, we discussed, gonna use it but keep an eye it.
26⁰ not really alot of snow above our frozen base to plat with.
3 TASA Groomers out taking care of all of you for a great start Friday,.
Going to send this with 3 pics now, hope it works, keep you posted. 😁
1:32am Just turned around at Holland Lake, 48.4 miles hangin out at 26⁰ most the night.
Both Grand Marais and Seney have been through recently.
Have to use the blade to knock the snot outta most of it, turning out pretty good so far, no change on our Crack 😊
Headed to Pine Stump, then south.
Keep you posted.
5:44am Back to Windy Corners intersection. Had to dig pretty deep in quite a few Corners, busts up the chunky snow, again, still broken suger cube stuff, froze and thawed several times now, dont believe it will set up well and a porous flat surface.
Blending it all together on the way back. #newberry #snowphotos
