Newberry Trail Report – 12/13

December 13, 2017

Snowmobile trails are officially open and we need more snow.

North Trail #9 There is about 8 inches on the ground and over a foot at Pine Stump. There is a deep water hole between Co Rd 422 and School Bus Corner (Co Rd 455) which now has stop ahead and stop signs. The water was to the top of the tracks on the groomer last night.

Trail #45 This trail has 4 wet areas that the club members are trying to fill with snow and freeze. The two worst spots are located 2 miles in from M-123 and the other area past Skyline Road. You will find stop ahead and stops signs at these 2 locations. Please slow down on this trail due to the amount of rain we have received since September this trail has a lot of water. The gate at CR 500 is closed and will remain closed until we know that the swamp is safe to cross.

South Trail #9/2 This trail has 5 inches of snow on the ground.

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Town Hall Snowmobile Club Paradise MI >> Paradise to Seney today was excellent- We took “alternate” routes and boondocks to and from Pine Stump but I’m sure the paradise trails were fair despite the fact they are not being maintained at the present time. Massive drifts coming back and white out conditions made for a blast. Chics Hot Dog Stand 8 and 452 Paradiseprovided the Hot chocolate on the way out. Ended the evening at Wheelhouse Diner & Goat Locker Saloon back in Paradise. TASA, Grand Marias, and Seney operations have their trails dialed in beautifully- Andy’s Bar in Seney has the burger!! All areas received several inches of fresh snow today and it’s still coming down hard at 11pm. #paradise #newberry #snowphotos ... See MoreSee Less

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> Here is our last call for ongoing system snow and lake effect snow from now through Sunday evening at 6 pm EST, December 20th & 21st, 2025.
Uncertainty exists primarily in our trace-1" category which extends from Frankfort and Alpena south to I-96/I-69. The clipper moving through today may produce a quick squall of rain & snow with minimal accumulation some time beyond 1 pm EST, but models haven't determined if this band will solidify or not. If it does, the chance for a rain/snow mix exists in areas highlighted in the pink dashed box. This rain/snow mix would only be today. Any snow on Sunday will be lake effect off of Lake Superior, hence why our highest totals of 4-8" are located east of Munising over to Paradise. Not too impactful of a system in terms of Michigander standards, but do take it slow if you encounter any snow squalls and/or visibly slick roads. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskeyHere is our last call for ongoing system snow and lake effect snow from now through Sunday evening at 6 pm EST, December 20th & 21st, 2025.

A snow squall. Maybe that’s what we had going on in Wakefield today. It was nuts!

Watersmeet Trail Report – 12/13

4+ inches of new snow since this morning and more in the forecast.

Hopefully if the snow continues like forecast says we could get the groomers out by Friday.

This is a shot from today of trail 3 north of Bond Falls. It’s early season out there so use caution when you ride
